Today is "all 'bout that bass"!

Today we will shoot a new video for our YouTube channel. We will be taking the studio bass and playing/recording how it sounds now. Then we will install new Bartolini P1J L/S pickups and removing all the stock electronics from the cheap (Slammer by Hamer) Jazz Bass and installing a full vintage-style rewire kit from RS Guitarworks (the best place to order your modern or vintage replacement/upgrade parts for guitars or basses).

The video will feature playing both before and after changes. At the end we will have an A/B comparison of the before and after so that people can hear for themselves just how much difference upgrading your cheap (but decent playing) bass guitar.

I did a lot of searching and found zero videos about this ironically. I found videos of people who had replaced their stock pickups on cheap basses and were playing them. But they neglected to play before so we could properly evaluate the difference in the changes.

With some luck I should be able to get the whole episode shot today. But I will likely need to work on editing and compiling the video tomorrow evening as the whole day is going to be spent at church and then at a Birthday party for my twin granddaughters.

No biggie, I don't anticipate having to spend more than a couple hours on post production at most. So if this interests you at all, watch for our premier announcement hopefully either Sunday night or Monday morning.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Sound Advice Studios is now taking bookings for 2023. The studio is now ready to book sessions for anything from singer songwriters, to rap artists or full bands.

Sessions will fill up fast, so if you need to produce a single song, or an album. If you want to do or have voice-overs done for ads or commercials...you name it, we can handle it!

Prices are intentionally affordable for the serious working musician. Call or DM now for a quote for your project(s).

UPDATE: In response to the new norm that Covid seems to have created, We at Sound Advice are now offering remote recording, mixing and mastering services!

That's right, we can either arrange to record your tracks on location, or we can help you to buy, set up and operate the equipment and software needed to record your band members remotely and we can still mix and master the tracks remotely.

Not only that, we can now offer to mix your steaming webcasts or concerts remotely!

Covid may have changed the way that we related to our audiences but it can't stop the music unless we let it do that! It's time to take music that next step into the future and create new ways to hold shows and record our songs.
