Get ready to dive into soccer-themed fun at Kick it at the Zoo Days! California sea lion Delilah is already winning our hearts with her sporty skills in preparation for the action. Today you can watch themed enrichment at the Sea Lion Splash program, Animal Adventures LIVE, and at the Tropics habitat.

Don’t forget that you can also visit with KCZoo mascots at 10-11:30 am and 1-2:30 pm, snap a variety of photo ops, and pick up coloring pages and complete a special scavenger hunt!

Mort and King Julien are growing up! The first two king chicks to hatch this year, these penguins have now shed enough of their down feathers (we still love the “scarf”) to go for swims and be outside of the playpen during the day. Parents Cayenne, Kingsley, Dumpling, and Gilbert have been sticking close to Mort (orange band) and Julien (blue band) to help them navigate the habitat and build their relationships with the other birds.

While the 3rd and 4th king chicks to hatch, Gloria and Corn, are still in the playpen, we will keep you updated on when they graduate to the main habitat!

Our next Kick it at the Zoo Days event returns this Friday, June 19, from 10 am to 3 pm! ⚽ See residents like the Animal Adventures LIVE crew enjoying soccer-themed enrichment that brings out their natural instincts, snaps pics at photo ops, and visit with KCZoo mascots at 10-11:30 am and 1-2:30 pm each day. Plus, young fans can pick up coloring pages and complete a special scavenger hunt to earn a prize!

We’re feeling JAWsome because it’s World Crocodile Day! At the Zoo, you can visit dwarf crocodile Lua in the Africa section. Her species is smaller in stature, and Lua herself is only about 40 inches in length. African dwarf crocodiles are classified as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List due to issues like habitat loss and hunting.

Although Lua still enjoys private time in the habitat vegetation, she’s gaining confidence and becoming a bit easier to spot. Be sure to watch the first video to see exactly what we mean. Happy Croc Day, Lua!
