Summer is here, which means more time to craft with my kiddos. We’ve had shells from the Wilmington, NC area since last year. I finally dove in and made some pieces!
Materials: acrylic paint on canvas, gorilla glue, drywall repair putty, and unpainted shells.
Tree/Vine Piece- for my mom! I used an old canvas that had a piece I didn’t love and painted over it, using the original tree/vine structure from the old painting. White shells make the flowers while smoother, colorful shells make the leaves.
Vase- a large cracked piece of shell makes the vase while some of my favorite colorful shells make the flowers
Swirl- the kids helped me separate the shells by color. We then planned a pattern, covered the canvas in drywall putty, and then put the pattern into the canvas. It dried into what I feel is a sand-like texture!
Heart- my first time gorilla gluing the shells. Some areas have way too much glue, but I still like it!
