That’s gonna be some underglaze in la micra for like 3/4 minutes for a whole pint or more; or less—they all act different. And that info is based off of a *new* pint, or one where the gel portion of the cmc gum has not expired (lost its body).

Won’t be dragon this on much longer; hyuuck gowrsh—PUNS!

Also, microwave it in glass or ceramic containers because it gets REAL HOT REAL FAST (I’ve 86’d too many plastic containers), stir it often and let it cool. It lies when it’s hot and only tells the truth at room temperature.

Check it by stirring it up and seeing if it’s like room temperature yogurt consistency—that 90’s yoplait type shi

That’s going to be 2tbs Amaco Brent Gum Solution to 2.25c distilled water to make the stuff I’m calling the gum solution mix 🤓

It’s carboxymethyl cellulose—hah! boxcars!
It’s synthetic tree sap that helps the underglaze dry slower, makes brushing easier, thins the underglaze with less sediment over time, dries hard to resist peeling off when removing latex, when thinned it seems to me like it has deflocculating characteristics—but that’s not what it’s made for nor expected to deflocculate like Darvan or sodium silicate or your mother 😘
I don’t mean that! Your mom doesn’t reduce the amount of water needed in liquid suspension of ceramic materials heavily biased by clays to increase viscosity and hydrologic cleaving potential—the industrial kind, not the Warhammer 40k Hydraulic Cleaving Potential; who would I be to assume your mom doesn’t play TTRPG’s 😘

Compressor is at 40psi, airbrush is gravity-fed from harbor freight or amazon or something, 1.5:1 gum solution mix to underglaze (adjust as necessary—seems like all them act a little different), & try to have fun; oh like 8 passes to get something opaque (kinda, I mean really I’m just guessing off of my experience that I didn’t write down, because it takes time to get to the point of airbrushing and I’m just needing a little actual chaos in the illusion of control I pretend to have to keep moving forward 😘

Lots of things to do to feet I don’t want to trim. Because trimming would probably take extra time and not trimming it would be way easier.
So, like I have a pretty diverse toolkit to cope.
Fuggin ain’t workin.
But I still got it… that’s it. That’s all I have to say about that 😘

I factually use this tool on everything I make and have no problem keeping it that way.

I use it to carve lines, clean up overspray, underglaze mishaps, lol—cut tape, to sign them, etc. Haha, I’m sure it’s phenomenal at its namesake too; doing sgraffito

Got get a Tortuga • Pottery Tools sgraffito kit and use it for friggan errything—WOOO! 🤩
