Hello friends and supporters! We need your help…
The Pearl is a 600 square foot black box theater in the heart of Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District. We host a variety of artists, musicians, workshops, and organizations in both our black box room, and our adjacent 500 square foot green room space. From Kansas City Fringe Festival to the City of Fountains Sisters chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, our doors are open to friends, performers, and organizers of all stripes.
Nearest and dearest to our hearts is our Drag Queen Storytime program, in which we endeavor to promote positive q***r role models and childhood literacy all wrapped up in a glittery bubble of a fun afternoon of kid’s entertainment.
We at The Pearl are approaching our first anniversary. Until this point we have funded our programs entirely through ticket sales, in-kind donations, and from our own pockets. Now is the time when we ask you, our friends and champions, to help us move forward. Due to circumstances beyond our control we find ourselves asking for contributions to the tune of $2,000 over the next few days.
If each person who likes our page gave just $2, we would be ahead of the game in no time. Attached to this message you’ll find a link to a short documentary our friends at Plain Sight Films made about Drag Queen Storytime. This documentary has been viewed over 38,000 times. If everyone who watched the video gave a nickel, we’d be set.
So if you, dear reader, feel the pull to contribute one dollar, or a thousand dollars, you will have our gratitude, and the gratitude of the children, artists, and activists we endeavor to serve. We are using PayPal to collect funds, as the fees are slim to none via that avenue.
