HCM has created a model that is unique in scope and unlike anything in the region. Our programs not only benefit the musicians and children we serve but cultivate an audience base that will help support the future of the arts in Kansas City. Entering its 20th year, Heartland Chamber Music has grown into a well-known reputable musical institution in the Midwest. Our mission is two-fold; chamber music education and outreach serving over 5,000 students and presenting over 200 concerts during this time.

Our programs serve students ages 3-76 who range from beginners to advanced young artists, HCM’s programming is all-encompassing from preschoolers to adult amateurs.

Annually each summer, our distinguished faculty from universities, conservatories, and professional symphonies impart their knowledge and passion for chamber music during our student-focused festivals as well as our Adult Workshop for amateurs. This year marks our 11th year in partnership with JCCC Carlsen Center Arts Education where the Parker Quartet will serve as our 2020 resident artist.

Our student quartets have been invited to participate in Master Classes given by artists from The Friends of Chamber Music, UMKC Arts Alliance Series, JCCC Performing Arts Series and the Kansas City Symphony. HCM students not only excel in their musical talents as well as their professional lives. Our students have won national and international awards and serve in positions such as Philip Marten a former student who was recently named Assistant Concert Master with the Cincinnati Symphony.
