Today was a great day, I got to meet a very special two year old girl. It was plain to see she had been through a lot. She was very shy and hardly responded to my voice. I positioned the drawing board towards her so she could see me draw, I drew her eyes first and her little nose then her expression changed. I said "smile so I can draw you smiling, smile big!"
An she did! I tell you, she smiled the rest of the time we spent together. The nurses came over to see how the sketch was coming along and one of them said -"She's actually smiling, look she is still smiling!"
It never ceases to amaze me the change I see in kids when I take out my drawing board and start sketching! When I finished it, I handed it to her and she held out her little hands with excitement. I feel blessed for these little moments on Tuesday at Children's Mercy!
