🎭 THEATRE AUDITIONS ARE HERE! 🎭

Avila students, it’s time to step into the spotlight! Whether you’re an experienced performer or thinking about auditioning for the very first time, we’d love to see you.

Who should audition?
Acting, Musical Theatre, and Directing students are required to audition, but ALL Avila students are welcome, regardless of major!

Callback scenes—or sides—will be assigned following General Auditions. Students receiving callbacks will be notified of the specific roles and material they should review and prepare.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Please prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues: one comedic and one dramatic. Your total performance should not exceed 3 minutes (approximately 90 seconds per monologue).

Do you sing or play an instrument? We’d love to hear it!

Never auditioned before? COME ANYWAY! Seriously. Bring the best material you have, even just a story you can tell, show up ready to give it a try, and we’ll help you through the process. That’s what college is for!

We returned to the School of Performing Arts this semester with a smash and a bang!

*note to musicians and music lovers* these pianos had been stage props for years and were well beat up before we helped them on their way. It was time to say goodbye. We promise this isn’t how we treat our pianos regularly!

EUREKA DAY is directed by KCAT Ensemble Member Darren Sextro whose previous credits with KCAT include THE ROOMMATE, TROUBLE IN MIND, A DOLL'S HOUSE, CRIMES OF THE HEART, and more.

Scenic design by Kelli Harrod (KCAT's EVERYBODY, DIAL M FOR MURDER, LITTLE WOMEN, and more); costume design by Georgianna Londré (KCAT's THE PESTS, DEATH AND THE MAIDEN, THREE VIEWINGS, and more); KCAT Ensemble Member Tinna Rivera as lighting designer and production manager (KCAT lighting design debut); KCAT Ensemble Member Jerry Mañan as projections designer (KCAT's THE LEHMAN TRILOGY and FOUR CHILDREN); sound design by Paul Vedros (KCAT's THE ROOMMATE); and properties design by Eric Palmquist (KCAT's EVERYBODY, DIAL M FOR MURDER, GASLIGHT, and more).

KCAT Ensemble Member Ari Hernandez is the stage manager and assistant director, assistant stage management by Jazmin Havens, and production assistance and wardrobe supervision by Alex Valdez. Technical direction from KCAT Ensemble Member Tyler Lindquist and intimacy direction from KCAT Ensemble Member Matt Schwader.

The SPA Picnic is required for ALL School of Performing Arts students, but ALL AVILA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ARE WELCOME! Come meet our new and returning students and faculty, hear important updates about the year ahead, eat some food, have some fun—and possibly destroy an old piano with a sledgehammer.
