Meet the Playwright of MRS. CHRISTIE:
Heidi Armbruster is a theatre artist dedicated to creating new work and discovering new approaches to classical literature and theatre.
As an actress, Heidi has extensive New York and regional theatre credits, including TIME STANDS STILL on Broadway, Lincoln Center's production of the Pulitzer Prize winning play DISGRACED, and the New York premieres of Sam Hunter's LEWISTON/CLARKSTON, Anna Ziegler's BOY, Tracy Letts' MAN FROM NEBRASKA, and Theresa Rebeck's POOR BEHAVIOR.
Heidi's play MURDER GIRL received its world premiere at Forward Theater in Madison, Wisconsin after workshops at Forward Theater, Third Avenue Playworks, KC Rep, Red Caravan, and The Playwriting Collective. Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival commissioned Heidi to adapt the novel THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD by Agatha Christie, which received its world premiere in their 2024 season after workshops in its summer development program. Her other plays include DAIRYLAND (Playmaker's Rep, Chautauqua Theater Festival); SCARECROW (Next Act, Dorset Theatre Festival Vermont Public Theater); and THE BOYS FROM BARABOO (Next Act - Fall 2026).
MRS. CHRISTIE received its west coast premiere at Theatreworks Silicon Valley, after receiving its world premiere at Dorset Theatre Festival. Recent productions incude Milwaukee Rep/Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and The McCarter.
Heidi was a member of Page 73 Interstate Writers, the Working Farm at Space on Ryder Farm, and a founding member of Women Artists Writing. Heidi splits her time between Brooklyn and Milwaukee. Heidi received her MFA in Acting from American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
