From Concept to Creation; a Live Showcase for Local Artists

From Concept to Creation; a Live Showcase for Local Artists A live showcase, and page shining a light on KC's Artists and Makers. Let's find out what drives them towards creativity.

From Concept to Creation is a Monthly showcase hosted at the Uptown Arts Bar, every 4th Wednesday of the month. We showcase all local artists: actors, performers, dancers, writers, poets, comedians, improvisers, musicians, visual artists, textile artists, makers, designers, directors, filmmakers, you name it. If you came up with an idea and made it happen, I want to talk to you. The format is an i

nterview with the artists to talk about their format, what inspires them to come up with a concept, then feature a short demonstration of the creation. The Showcase will be recorded (video and audio) and posted for people to see on this website. It's a great opportunity for the KC artists to tell their story, answer some questions, and promote any shows, First Friday Showcases, or festivals.

Just a few pics from yesterdays stroll. Feeling better… lighter, though my circumstances haven’t changed much, and with the Ambulance and ER visit, they may have gotten a little worse, I find that hope and joy are champing at the bit to get back on the field. The light was beautiful, in the evening so I popped open the camera shield on the phone and snapped a few playing with focus points and light.

Taken in 2019 in Yosemite. In 2018 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease and thyroid eye disease, among so many of the symptoms, my body was very heat sensitive, and at times I had a resting heart rate of 166 which led to extreme bouts of exhaustion limiting the physical activity I loved throughout my entire life (and in hindsight was a natural coping mechanism for my late life diagnosis of ADD.) I had a thyroid ablation in July to “zap” the hyperactive cells affecting… well… just about everything else in my body. Hormones, man. Hormones rule the roost. From metabolism to brain synapses, sometimes causing a guillotine to truncate any thought process I had and for someone who cannot stop thinking… well I was a mess. This picture was halfway up a long hike that included grades not for the weak, and precarious cliffside climbs laden with gravel, and one misstep could be very very unfortunate. That was the first hike in a few years where truly felt good, and I conquered a couple things. 1) completing the several miles and steep elevations without feeling like I was going to pass out at every step. And 2) fear of heights - that pit in the stomach that gets your hands shaking a bit, questioning decisions, and praying to the heavens, “if you get me through this, I promise to never do xyz again”. (I forgot what I was going to never do again… but I have cut back on a few things since.) and 3) that the ground makes noises at night which mimic growls of mountain lions…. (At least that what I kept telling myself.) My talented, amazing, beautiful friend (and photographer) sent me this this morning as a reminder of perseverance. ~Love you, Jac to the moon and back.~ Once I’m on my feet, which will be soon, the next adventure awaits.
