I participated in the Kansas City Chalk Festival over the weekend by creating this 5-foot square mural featuring Lady Liberty chasing after a Minion thief. I do love to include allegory in my artwork.

I visited this historic Conoco Gas Station in Shamrock, Texas while traveling on Route 66 last month and just finished painting it in my studio. This station was remarkable back in 1936 when it was built, and it still stands out on the Route after a complete restoration. With its Art Deco detailing and two unique towers, the structure earned the name "The Tower Station." (40" x 30" Acrylic on canvas)

Last night I participated in the Eighth Annual "Parked" festival in Shawnee, KS. It is always fun to create silly images that appeal to kids and the Fourth of July theme offers many opportunities. This five-foot hot dog painted on the sidewalk was a hit!

If you are looking for something to do in Kansas City, you might stop by the City Market and take some photos of the 3-dimensional soccer ball I finished painting on the pavement last week. The huge ball looks like it came from above and makes for great photos of friends and family.

I spent two weeks traveling on historic Route 66 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary and to collect some incredible experiences. I took some amazing photos that will make for some outstanding subjects of paintings in the future.

If you are looking for something fun to do on Friday evening, come on by the Zhou Art Center and visit my studio on Second Friday Open Studios. I have some new artwork including this acrylic painting of the J.C. Nichols Fountain at the Plaza. This is my favorite fountain in KC, and I love the Mill Creek Park. This park has become a place where people can amplify their voice on many different issues.

I was fortunate enough to have the celebrity artists, the Zhou Brothers, visit me at my studio this morning. ShanZuo and DaHuang Zhou invested in the development of the Zhou B Art Center where my studio resides. Their insight into my artistic direction was invaluable.

I had two hours to complete this playful piece for the MS Walk this morning. It was a chilly 42 degrees this morning not the usual 90+ degree days for chalk festivals. Instead of sweating on my work, I had to stop my nose from dripping on my progress.

I recently finished an acrylic painting of a picture that I took a couple of years ago while visiting Venice. I love how this painting captures the historic canals of this amazing city. There is even a sense of peace to be found in this painting in a city where the overwhelming tourism steps on the tranquility.

I have challenged myself to design and paint the essence of music that I appreciate. This is my second work that features the song "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix. I call the painting "Kiss the Sky". Hendrix was a magician with an electric guitar, and his music continues to bring me to my knees.
