A little memorial painting ❤️

I love when people choose to gift a painting of someone’s pup. There’s just something really special about being able to turn a dog you loved so much into something you can hang on the wall and keep forever.

Also… look at that face. 😍

I had so much fun painting this one! They wanted a white or off white background so we kept with some subtle creams and a more grayish shadow to keep all the focus on the pup and to make sure those whites on the fur still popped!!

If you’ve got a pet you’d love to see painted, my books are open! Get your portrait in line before I get too busy with weddings paintings for the year! 😆

Delivery day is here! I admit, sometimes I am a little sad when I have to give the paintings up. I spend so much time finessing details and creating such an intricate piece! ❤️ but alas, I need more space for other paintings that I am working on, and I can take a quick video for my own memories 😆

Rottana and I got to dress up for this beautiful styled shoot! I put on my wedding dress from our original wedding in 2018!!! We had so much fun and I am so happy to have these gorgeous updated photos! ❤️

As many of you know, I have been playing around with oils as of late! I decided to try to do a live painting (for a styled shoot, not a wedding!) with oils for the first time and I learned a lot!

1) Still love oils but I need more practice training my brain if I am to use it live! I started painting and my brain fell right back into acrylic painting mode 🤪 I was trying to paint alla prima and I think i would do better if I just focused on rendering smaller areas at a time

2) The logistics of painting with oils out in public are a bit harder. It is a little messier than I intended. Specifically on my hands! I understand why some artists paint with gloves on now.

3) The LIGHT. oh my goodness. I could barely see what I was painting because it was so shiny. I had to get up multiple times to see the differences between some areas.

All in all im happy for the experience. This is why I love to try new things. Sometimes you could find something that truly takes your art further! Other times, you might find what youre doing already works perfectly.

While I do not believe I will really be painting live with oils again, studio details in oils over an acrylic live painted wedding painting might be in my future! Ive got several trial paintings to practice on first! :)

Obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover it 🖤

I had the absolute joy of painting for Alica and Matt’s wedding!! From our very first conversation I knew this piece was going to be different, in the best way. Their vibe leaned beautifully alternative, and I was immediately inspired to step outside my usual approach.

After lots of brainstorming, I kept picturing something regal and intentional. A posed portrait, a darker, moodier atmosphere, and soft window light highlighting their features and connection. And since Alica loves Beetlejuice, there was no way I wasn’t sneaking in a little Easter egg. 👀

While hanging out at the Airbnb, and i went searching for the perfect backdrop, and we found it. It was a stunning little room with textured carpets and drapes, beautiful green plants, and just enough window light. Everything just clicked.

Once they finished getting ready, we captured the reference photos, and I spent the evening bringing their story to life during the reception.

Love stories like this remind me why I do what I do. I want the art you recieve to feel like you.

Oh btw if you need a fun alt hairstylist - check out my gal . She makes me feel beautiful every time I go in and is always down for a fun hair color or cut ❤️ 💙 💜
