Kankakee native and current Bloomington-Normal artist Stefen Robinson, aka Yea Big, is back with his new project Nonlinear Field. We're so glad to be welcoming him back to town to kick off things downstairs at Wintersong tomorrow

Nonlinear Field is a trio composed of Yea Big (Stefen Robinson), Michael Carlson, and Jon Byler Dann. The three make improvised music inspired by contemplative traditions and the human quest to perceive the ineffable that lies beyond our normal sense-making procedures.

❄️❄️do you have your tickets? -or- still on the fence? either way, we put together a handy little FAQ for Saturday:

WHO:
A dozen local, regional, and national acts curated by your friends at Merchant Street MusicFest representing rock, blues, jazz, r&b, folk, pop, americana

​WILL THERE BE FOOD AVAILABLE?
Yes! Just like last year, Martinez Tacos Restaurant will be serving in the back of the theater. The Lush Vine will have their normal menu available with paninis and other shared plates. Rigo's Place is just next door if you’re looking for a more traditional sit down meal – call (815) 802-1200 for a reservation. 8 ONE FIVE is just next door too, so sneak away for one of Chef Karla's famous burgers. Head down the street to Johnny's Pizza and get a slice or 2. Heck, you could even grab a bucket of popcorn or other concessions at Classic Cinemas - Paramount across the street.

CAN I LEAVE THE BUILDING AND COME BACK?
Yes! Your wristband allows you re-entry all afternoon and evening

​I BOUGHT A TICKET ONLINE... WHAT NOW?
Doors open at 3pm the day of the event. Check in at either of our 2 tables in the lobby of the Majestic and show your ID for Will Call. You will be given a wristband which allows you to roam amongst the 3 venues.

WHAT ABOUT VIP?
If you bought a VIP ticket, see above. You will be given a VIP wristband which allows you to access the balcony of the historic theater with a private bar, Wintersong koozie, and a drink ticket. Please note, the theater and balcony will open at 5:30pm or thereabouts.

CAN I STILL BUY A TICKET ONLINE?

WILL THERE BE TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR?
GA tickets will be available at the door. We anticipate VIP tickets selling out before Saturday. We will be taking cash and cards. Ticket prices go up the day of, so best to get those tickets ahead of time.

CAN I WANDER THE BUILDING WITH MY BEVERAGE?
Yes, although each establishment may have different rules about what you can and can’t bring in and out (specifically, glassware). They are working hard for you and please respect their wishes. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for anyone attempting to bring in outside alcohol. And please, please, please remember to close your tabs.

I DIDN'T BUY VIP, IS SEATING AVAILABLE?
Your ticket is General Admission but there will be at least some seating available at all 3 venues. Chairs and tables are first come-first serve and may be limited... so come early!

WHERE DO I PARK?
There is ample parking within a block of the venue. There are free lots just to the north and east of The Majestic, and a large free lot across from Paramount Theater.

WHAT'S THE WEATHER FORECAST FOR SATURDAY?
28 and 🌤, it's January in Illinois...we'll take it!

Rebecca Rego of Rebecca Rego & The Trainmen has been a Midwest singer-songwriter, recording artist, and producer for over 15 years. She has written and recorded eight albums and toured the country many times over, solo and with her Kankakee/Chicago-based band The Trainmen.

Unknowing – singer/songwriter Kevin Prchal’s fourth full-length album – finds the Chicago-area musician grappling with our historical moment while finding some solace in the enigmas of life. The world has changed since the release of his last album, Love & Summer, five years ago. From political turmoil and social upheaval to a quickening climate crisis and a global pandemic, trouble is everywhere outside his door. Yet at home, life has changed for the better: In 2018, he and his wife welcomed a daughter into their family. Unknowing strives to come to grips with a world in which such private joy can coexist with such public pain. Rather than try to wring truths from the experience of the past years, however, Prchal seeks instead to come to peace with the mysteries surrounding him.
