The Art of Storytelling The Art of Storytelling is an open mic held monthly in Kankakee. Hosted by Standing Ovation. This is the platform for all the lovers, liars, and testifiers.

Art of Storytelling is an excellent night of spoken word poetry, comedians, live music, musicians, singers, artists of all sorts that have a story to tell. We are proud of the quality of performers presented as well as the first time people who just have something to get off their chest. Often there will be themed nights such as the Classic~CYPHER NIGHT for the lovers of word play Hip Hop Style. P

The first time I was ever called Ms. Talley was at St.Anne HS as a PE assistant teacher in 2001. That's where I met the beautiful, mature, Maquita Lloyd. Pure joy to see her grow into a woman and live a beautiful life. She always loved on me, gave flowers, stood long enough to receive hers, and now God has called her home. She has supported The Art of Storytelling faithfully. I am devastated for her family as this is an incredible loss. Please pray for their strength. I am thankful to God for allowing our paths to cross. I tip my hat to you little sister...until we meet again.
