Tonight is a tough night for Studio K-ers...our beloved Miss Hannah is ending her time with us. She's moving on to an incredible job opportunity and we couldn't be prouder of her!
However saying goodbye is never easy, especially to someone who's been there since day 1. I have known Miss Hannah since 2002, when her brother joined the school musical. I've watched her grow from a shy, reserved, quiet little girl in my theatre camps to a confident, boss lady who is the standard for what to do in an emergency. (Seriously, it was repeated several times yesterday, we all ask ourselves often What Would Hannah Do?)
There are few people in this world that I feel genuinely understand and believe in what we do at Studio K. Hannah is someone I trust implicitly to keep the culture and atmosphere what I want it to be. Welcoming, loving, compassionate, open...there's no requirements to be a Studio K-er, other than a love of dance and a love of others. Hannah is the epitome of both.
When I look back on 22 years of Studio K and a handful more before that, Hannah has always been there. She stands out as a person, a dancer, a teacher, a mentor, a leader. Her laughter, her creativity and her care will be missed...and definitely her famous chocolate chip cookies!
It has been my honor to know Hannah first as a teacher and now as a friend. Someone I consider family. Someone I turn to when I need to bounce ideas around, look for songs or trouble shoot a difficult situation. It has been my honor to believe in Hannah for all these years and to know she believes in me too is humbling.
Hannah, as you move on to your next adventure, I hope you'll hear songs that remind you of us often, there will always be fresh daisies to make you smile, you're coffee will be strong and the w**e available, you'll keep your chin up and a smile on and you'll remember that the future belongs to those who believe in themselves.
It's time to fly, my friend.
