THU June 18 ~ The Tropic Tides is Alexander Santiago on guitar, Kalei Aikau on lead vocals, Caleb Busque on drums, and Saja Lee on bass, it is comprised of members who were all alumni of Gary Washburn’s Jazz and/or Ensemble class at Honoka’a High School. They specialize in Pop, R&B and Soul, Rock, Country, Contemporary Hawaiian, and, most prominently, Reggae.

FRI June 19 ~ Tomi Isobe is a dynamic blues guitarist and showman who has performed for over 40 years in Tokyo, Boston, Georgia, and Hawaii. Though the blues is his first love, Tomi plays a wide variety of music, .including rock, R&B, and funk…covering artists like Santana, Stevie Wonder and Stevie Ray Vaughn, as well as blues artists like BB King, Muddy Waters and T-Bone Walker.

SUN June 21 ~ Norwood Fisher as the creator and organizational force behind The Familyhood Nextperience. This line up consists of ex-Fishbone band mates, Norwood Fisher, John Steward and Dre Gipson, Bobby Easton from Long Beach Dub All-stars, Van G Martin of John Brown’s Body and G. Love, with special guest, the legendary H.R., Human Rights/Bad Brains. They will be performing classic and new material that spans H.R.’s legacy, so you can expect some Bad Brains and more. They’ll also dig deep into the realm of All Improvised Psychedelic Dub. At every angle, the night is designed to give your body and feet something to move to.

FRI June 12 ~ From the volcanic slopes of the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, the Hilo Jazz Orchestra (HJO) has earned a global reputation for its high-voltage, highly entertaining, tributes to the music of Frank Zappa. Under the direction of composer and guitarist Trever Veilleux, the HJO has spent over a decade performing works from the Zappa canon, blending “Aloha Spirit” with the rigorous technical demands of Frank’s challenging compositions. HJO’s live performances have become a cultural touchstone in Hawaiʻi, with annual sold-out performances that push musicians to their limits.

SUN June 14 ~ John Keawe is a Grammy and multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award winning slack-key (Kiho`alu) guitarist, composer and recording artist. John’s music is infused with the spirit of Aloha and is reflective of many elements personal to him. He has recorded several albums, bringing Hawaiian slack-key into the homes of people from around the world. John is often joined by his lovely wife Hope dancing hula.

From the volcanic slopes of the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, the Hilo Jazz Orchestra (HJO) has earned a global reputation for its high-voltage, highly entertaining, tributes to the music of Frank Zappa. Under the direction of composer and guitarist Trever Veilleux, the HJO has spent over a decade performing works from the Zappa canon, blending "Aloha Spirit" with the rigorous technical demands of Frank’s challenging compositions.

“Zappa U” & The Living Legacy

The orchestra's deep dive into the Zappa universe is immortalized in the documentary film "Zappa U." The film tracks the band through twelve weeks of rehearsals, tackling Frank Zappa’s complex compositions, and concludes with the final concert hall experience. The film features expert commentary from industry titans and Zappa alumni, including sax legend Lou Marini, former SNL Music Director and Emmy winning composer Cheryl “Quack” Moore, and Chiu “Ray” Leong, the photographer behind the iconic Freak Out! cover. The film earned the approval of the Zappa estate, with Ahmet Zappa (Trustee of the Zappa Family Trust) noting, “Love their passion, love their playing; love that this happens every year.”

The Live Experience: "All Pistons Firing"

HJO’s live performances have become a cultural touchstone in Hawaiʻi, with annual sold-out performances that push musicians to their limits. John Burnett of the Hawaii Tribune-Herald observed this evolution firsthand, stating, “Every semester, I think Trever Veilleux and the Hilo Jazz Orchestra can't do a better show... and every semester they prove me wrong.” This reputation for excellence led to a landmark 2017 performance where the orchestra was joined on stage by Dweezil Zappa and Ike Willis. The energy of these live tributes was captured by Cheryl “Quack” Moore, who remarked after a particularly inspired set: “Holy Mother Frikkin Mouse Ears!! WAHOO—everything was workin'—all your pistons were firing—& there were some VERY inspired solos.”

Brother Noland is an impactful player in Hawaiʻi’s music scene and one of Hawaiʻi’s most respected artists. He is a storyteller at heart and music is how he shares his stories. Music is a portal – sounds, melody and lyrics can transport you back in time, connect you to a familiar feeling, or inspire you in the moment. Seeing him live on stage, you will step into an experience and embark on a journey to what he calls the “Crazy Aloha Music”. Always so happy, inspiring and ready to deliver. Brother Noland will keep you engaged, as he sings you sweet music, like poetry to your ears, in hopes that you will listen, not just hear, the underlying harmony he so wishes to share with you and the entire world.

Brother Noland is a legacy Hawaiian artist who has deeply influenced contemporary Hawaiian music. For nearly 40 years Brother Noland has filled the airwaves with original compositions that have become local classics and island treasures. He is most famous for timeless hits such as “Coconut Girl” and “Are You Native”, and is often credited with the birth of “Jawaiian” contemporary style music by infusing traditional Hawaiian music with reggae, jazz and blues sounds. He has won numerous Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards including Best Reggae Album and most recently the Slack Key Kiho’alu Legacy Award in 2018. His music is featured in several movies including “Pineapple Express” and “Snakes in the Plane.” Brother Noland is a regular stage performer that brings his classics to his fans and audiences, along with traditional Hawaiian music, slack key, and Hawaiian swing music. Brother Noland was honored in 2014 by the State of Hawai’i with a “Lifetime Achievement in Music” award and is a recipient of Hawai’i Academy of Recording Arts highest award, the Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2019.
