This one's for the KIDS! 🐺

Glacier Symphony is assembling its cast of musical animal characters for our Peter and the Wolf Halloween Special on October 31! This matinée special starts at 2 PM and is perfectly timed so that families can still enjoy their evening trick-or-treat adventures. 🎃🍬

Here's a little history about this suspenseful tale:

Natalya Sats, the director of the Central Children's Theatre in Moscow, commissioned Prokofiev to write a musical symphony for kids in 1936. The goal was to introduce kids to instruments in the orchestra and hopefully develop in them an interest in music. 🎶

Prokofiev crafted the piano version in under a week! The orchestration was finished nine days later and on May 2, it was debuted during a children's concert in the Moscow Conservatory.

Make sure you listen carefully for the cast of characters in different instruments!
Flute -> bird 🐦
Oboe -> duck 🦆
Clarinet -> cat 🐈
Bassoon -> grandfather 👴
French horns -> wolf 🐺
String quartet -> Peter 👦
Kettle and bass drums -> hunters firing💥
