🎨🦴 This shoulder blade (likely a small Whitetail deer) was found during a backpacking trip in the Northfork River drainage of Montana. I had oil paints packed with me and ready to go. 🎨 This bone was painted while seated on the sandy banks of the river. A soft breeze danced in the young cottonwood tree just above me. A family of geese with their goslings were louning just across the swift current of the river. I collected pieces of tiny driftwood and river rocks that surrounded me, and are also a part of this painting. I believe honoring the life of this wild animal with an elegant beauty almost brings "life" back to this creature. 🦴🎨

Titled: "The Unseen Journey"
🌲This is oil paint on a tiny shoulder blade with a small piece of rawhide string attached. The bone is likely from a premature or stillborn fawn. I found this unique bone on Twisted Pine Ranch while on a hike. This little buggar unfortunately didn't get to see much of a life on earth, but it surely will not be forgotten.🌲

🐦🌲 I was so excited about this little creation!!🌲🐦
A dear friend (and coworker) of mine had found a gorgeous piece of birch bark while he was out hiking the Montana wilderness with his pupper (you know who you are🙂)! He knew right away my affinity for oil painting "on nature"! I have been excited to paint a Nuthatch, after my successful chickadee painting on a skull...and here it is! Finally! My first birch bark painting, and definitely not my last! It is about the size of my hand. 🤚

💗🦴🌲 I am not sure which critter this skull belongs to! Maybe a small predator? Not much was left of the skull but you can see where another critter left some very intriguing scratch(or teeth) marks. It was beautifully aged, dry, and clean. I prepped it with a special oil and painted a little chickadee on it!🐦 I enjoy bringing "life" back to the dead. A unique way to memorialize this little critter's time on our earth, whoever he/she may be! 🦴🌲💗
