From the cat-ears and elkman-antlers of that zoo romp came a positively giggly hailstorm of twisted chldlike magic from the twins McGnarl: Pipe Cleaner Haberdashery was born. Soon after that the eternal Sunny "Sar Ra Cha" McGnarls was joking with a man of a large melon and thus came the very first attempts at making pipe cleaner flatbills and other hats. ay seem, are quite possibly the most natural medium for visual and usable art that I have ever worked with was an epic moment in my progression as an artist to say the least, because now, It's just what I do. i am starting to think i should teach pipe cleaner funtimes instead of ever trying to offer these things as products. so many people have told me, you could make money off these. i know. but most of the really fun stuff i have made, that i love, has been over 20 hours of work, all labor of love. i like doing it that way, and i love gifting what i make. i never once have felt remorse spending money on pipe cleaners and i know they aren't the most environmentally conscious item or anything. it's what i do with them that makes me feel free about it and i have no desire to take that sense away from myself. it is magic. but, i would love to spread the joy of it all more thouroughly. i do agree that what i do should be shared! really though, they are pipe cleaners. anyone can do what i do with them and should. it's fun and it is really less than intimidating to approach as an art form. so, if anyone wants to help me promote this as a service, i think festivals would be a great place and beyond that, maybe i should try and get some substitute teacher gigs or something teaching art to younger kids. i have even thought about how fun it would be to teach creative writing in conjunction, like making kids create a character or an object out of pipe cleaners before writing about them or something crazy like that! anyway, random idea, lemme know what you think!
