Congratulations to our KCMS Band students who participated in MSBOA District Solo and Ensemble this past Saturday! Our students performed either a Solo or Duet for an adjudicator, and received valuable written and verbal feedback on how to improve on their instrument.

We are very proud of our students for performing!

Congratulations to High School Band students Ainsley Randall and Renee Cleveland on their performances at State Solo & Ensemble! Both Ainsley and Renee earned Division I “Superior” ratings.

For Renee, in addition to performing her solo, students who are in 10th grade or higher at State S&E must go through what’s called a “proficiency examination”. This exam includes playing scales and sight reading in front of the adjudicator.

Way to go Ainsley and Renee! Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to all of our Bands from Kalamazoo Christian on AMAZING performances at MSBOA Band Festival! Each ensemble represented our school extremely well:

7th Grade Band - Division II Rating
8th Grade Band - Division I Rating
HS Symphonic Band - Division I Rating

This marks the first time any Band from KCS has received a Division I rating since 2015🎶

These are outstanding accomplishments and we are extremely proud of our Band students!

Choral Festival this year is being hosted at First Church (2627 Niles Ave.) in St. Joseph, MI on Monday and The Chapel (4250 Washington Ave.) in St. Joseph, MI on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Congratulations to the High School Chamber Singers on an outstanding performance at the MSVMA District Solo & Ensemble Contest! The singers earned the highest possible Division II rating, a notable achievement that reflects their hard work, musicianship, and dedication.

Congratulations to our High School Band students who participated in MSBOA District Solo and Ensemble this past Saturday! Students performed a prepared piece and received valuable feedback from the adjudicator on how to improve their technique, musicality, and much more.

KCHS sent 5 total events, with 3 of them earning a “Superior” Division I rating. This Division I rating qualifies them to perform at State Solo and Ensemble in March!

Fantastic job to all of our students who participated!

Congratulations to 7th Grade Choir Student, Adriana Rutgers, for her performance in the MSVMA SA State Honor Choir as part of the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids at DeVos Performance Hall! Students worked with guest conductor and educator, Andrea Gay, and performed six different selections.

Adriana was selected from among hundreds of auditionees to participate, and we are very proud of her accomplishment!

On January 15th, The High School Chamber Singers performed in collaboration with local professional vocal group Celebris Ensemble at their Winter Concert at Bethany Reformed Church. Celebris Ensemble provided a vocal workshop for the Chamber Singers prior to the concert to give feedback and pointers for improvement on singing.

Thank you to Celebris Ensemble for inviting our Chamber Singers to perform with them!

Last week, High School Band student Anneke VanderKooy, participated in the 2025 Meyer Music High School Honors Band!

Hosted at Hope College’s Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts, participants rehearsed all day with this year’s guest conductor, Maureen Ross. Students also got to work in sectionals to receive specific feedback on their instruments.
