Sometimes I think it’s hard to explain what exactly my business does because, well, we do a lot of different things.

And that’s kind of the best part!

In the last few weeks, we’ve facilitated leadership conversations, helped corporate teams create custom keepsakes, taken groups of strangers on adventures through local businesses, and popped up at everything from country clubs to college tailgates.

Different audiences, different environments, different experiences.

But the common thread is always the same. Creating opportunities for people to connect, get creative, and do something a little different.

This will be my ninth holiday season hosting wreath workshops 🙀

There is just something about these events. The holiday music, tables full of greens, THE SMELL, people showing up with their friends, moms, sisters, coworkers and people they love. Everyone making something with their hands, laughing, slowing down for a minute and enjoying the season instead of just rushing through it.

The energy is so good, and it fills my cup every single year.

This year we have a limited lineup of public holiday events, including just a couple of wreath workshops and holiday centerpiece workshops throughout Southwest Michigan, a charcuterie workshop in Rockford just before Thanksgiving, plus our second annual Christmas Co-op on Small Business Saturday.

And later this week, we’ll be launching tickets for our second annual Christmas Crawl!

So consider this your reminder to put some FUN on the holiday calendar, too. Grab someone you want to spend a little purposeful time with, make something, make a memory and leave with a little piece of that holiday magic to take home.

Posting this one on the feed because I’m on a mission to reach every person planning a corporate bowling outing and convince them to book a patch bar instead 💁‍♀️

We brought our custom patch bar to Stryker for finance professionals in town from all over the country for their annual training, and THIS is exactly why I love what we do.

People made hats, bags and bandanas. They made things for their spouses and their dogs. They learned little things about each other. They tried something new. And we heard “this is such a cool idea” over and over again.

It’s creative, low-pressure, interactive and it gets people talking without forcing the “team building” part.

You don’t need another awkward icebreaker.

And you don’t have to go bowling. NO OFFENSE TO THE BOWLING ENTHUSIASTS!! Bowling is fine. Fine. But we can do better than fine.

Let’s do something different.

Fall is here, and we’re kicking it off with a little bit of everything!

Some events are ticketed, some are open to the public, and a few are private events, so swipe through to see where you can come hang with us!

It’s official!! Our second annual Do Something Co. Christmas Co-op is happening on Small Business Saturday at Wind + James!

We’re bringing together some of our favorite things for one festive day: local vendors, holiday shopping, food + drinks, Christmas music, creative activities, and lots of ways to support small businesses all in one stop.

We’ll have our Do Something Co. Charm Bar + Patch Bar set up, plus ticketed holiday centerpiece workshops happening throughout the day. The vendor market itself is FREE to attend, so come shop, hang out, make something, and kick off the holiday season with us.

And if you’re a small business owner, maker, food or beverage vendor who wants to be part of it, vendor applications are OPEN NOW! We’ll keep applications open for about a week before we begin selecting this year’s vendors.

Every single stop on Sunday’s Creative Crawl was so thoughtful.

The Shops at Maison Blanc welcomed us with fresh coffee and donuts and truly the best hospitality. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐭 | 𝒔𝒐𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚 + 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 and 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐝 | 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐈 helped us get our cooler stocked, had samples ready for everyone and was so genuinely helpful , kind, excited to have us there.

Pursuit Paper & Gift opened their doors just for us, gave us a private shopping experience, had non alcoholic slushies for us and the cutest festive fall paper craft ready for everyone.

At The Ada Hotel, we walked into RIX - Ada’s Common House to find a Creative Crawl sign on the wall, the most beautiful space waiting for us, a delicious Bright Eyed Mule and brunch boards that everyone raved about.

At Boochie Bar - Acai & Kombucha cafe’, we got VIP treatment on their Sunday off, hearing the story behind the business, learning so much about kombucha and tasting our way through different flavors. Soaring Suds Soap helped everyone create their own custom scent in record time AND surprised each guest with a lotion stick to take home.

And then The Pump House Rockford was the perfect ending with soft serve and basically every topping you could ever want all with a special group price.

And it wasn’t just our stops. When I posted that I was looking for some fun local swag to surprise our guests with, small businesses immediately reached out offering to create and donate things just for our group. Our gift bags were filled with goodies, our cooler was stocked with donated drinks, and so many little details throughout the day existed simply because someone wanted to contribute something special.

Every part of this day was met with so much thought, kindness and generosity. All from local and small businesses. No one had to do the extras. They just did. And probably at a cost to them. Because that’s what small, community based businesses do. They show up, they give back and they appreciate you.

That kind of hospitality is what makes a Creative Crawl so special. I would do this exact itinerary again and again. Rockford + Ada, you absolutely spoiled us!
