Hello, my acoustic roulette people.
We had a good run, almost a year at the Thunderbird, but unfortunately, this town does not have enough Songwriter to support a weekly Songwriter show.

So it's been two years since we stopped doing it at the Thunderbird, and now the Thunderbird is closed

In a slightly different vein, I am hosting a live piano karaoke show at the Old skool Bar, downtown Kalamazoo (formerly the union), and I'd like to see all of your smiling faces down there some Monday.

I know you guys can sing your asses off, I heard you do it – come share your gift on a Monday!

The acoustic night is over, but I have something to share about my beloved Martin that I've been playing for the last couple of years:

So I have been trying to stay positive about my Martin guitar.
It's a D28 Modern Deluxe.
Their most popular model.

It has had finish flaws and a split bridge since the first month or so. Now it has a crack down the center.
suck.

They self destruct.
I have 30 guitars and non of them are self destructing.
rely on a name and even their best, American made guitar is a POS.
Sounded great while it lasted.

are defensive about Martins as if they made them themselves.
And there is nothing to defend.
The king has no clothes.
What a sad joke

And the rumor of lifetime repairs for owners?
Lies

They would go out of business of they had to stand by their products

HOLIDAY SONG CONTEST!

There will be no Acoustic Roulette on Wednesday the 13th as the Thunderbird is closed for a private event. However, on December 20, we are having a Holiday song contest with prizes for the best holiday songs.
If you don’t have one, write one now - you have over a week!

NO ONLINE SIGNUP for this one.

I will have a sign-up sheet at the venue.
People will perform in the order that they signed up.
I will start the night by playing some Christmas covers from 7 to 7:30, then I will go down the list.

Ideally, each contestant will play one or two HOLIDAY cover songs, and finish with an original.

I am not participating in the contest and I am not the judge. The winner will be chosen based on audience response (bring friends).

The winners will be chosen between 10 and 10:30, and in the last 1/2 hour we will all take the stage and perform ONE song together, (like the we are the world video), something easy that everyone will know how to play and sing.

All suggestions welcome for the group song - post in comments, please.

This will be a very special night, and I’m hoping to see all of you!
