This is Kimberly’s drawing.
She showed me a few of her other pieces. Subtle details, sketch style. I really enjoyed looking at her work.
She explained that this little figure is her inner child, standing with a fishing pole. At the end of the line is a semicolon, doubling as a bobber.
Kimberly painted professionally for over 25 years before adding art therapy to her palette.
I asked her if she ever has people sketch their inner child.
Not really. That’s not how it works. It’s less about giving someone a specific prompt and more about getting them moving, creating, and finding a connection with themselves.
I love conversations like this. Two artists, different approaches, using art to reach something deeper.
And today, I got to put her art on her skin.

Mortar work is underway on the east side of Park Trades Center.

Looks like they’ve made molds for the replacement ledges beneath the windows, reinforced with rebar.

Little by little, this old building is getting some much-needed attention. It’s interesting watching the restoration process unfold.

The crane is on the move. It makes some crazy sounds when it’s moving. There’s no sneaking this one off the work site.

I’ve been reading articles about art cars. Turns out there’s a whole movement of people who look at a perfectly ordinary vehicle and think, well, that’s a wasted canvas.
Some are elaborate sculptures, some are rolling junk collections, and some are just painted.
I like the idea of artwork that travels around, finding an audience that wasn’t necessarily looking for art.
My old VW Bug was a canvas. Now it’s the Ranger’s turn.
And apparently I’m not the only one who can’t leave well enough alone.
