The State of Florida had their site down for the last month so we were unable to track for a little while but when I checked today and saw this number my heart just broke. 16 precious little babies lost their lives to a drowning accident in Florida this year. How is this possible? What will it take to reach EVERYONE that you are not above it and this is the LEADING cause of death in children ages 1-4 and second leading for under 14. We MUST do better!
Polk 02/03/2023 1 1/2-year-old child was pronounced deceased after he was found at the bottom of the grandparents' swimming pool when he got out of the home detected. The incident occurred while the family was visiting from another state.
Hillsborough 02/04/2023 2-year-old child was pronounced deceased 4 days after he was found unresponsive in the family's swimming pool when he gained access to the water undetected.
Brevard 02/07/2023 4-year-old child was pronounced deceased 2 days after he was found unresponsive in the retention pond when he got out of the home undetected while the family was visiting from another county.
Broward 02/25/2023 6-year-old autistic child was pronounced deceased after he was found unresponsive in the swimming pool when he got out of the home undetected while he and his mother were staying at a friend's home.
Seminole 02/25/2023 5-year-old autistic child was pronounced deceased after he was found unresponsive in the swimming pool when he got out of the home undetected while the family was visiting from out of state.
Alachua 03/02/2023 4-year-old was pronounced deceased after he was found unresponsive in a retention pond when he got out of the home undetected.
Duval 03/03/2023 2-year-old child was pronounced deceased after he was found unresponsive in a near-by pond when he was reported missing from the home while in the care of an older sibling.
Hendry 03/04/2023 1 1/2-year-old child was pronounced deceased 10 days after she was found unresponsive in the grandparents' swimming pool when she got out of the home undetected.
