The Cube Cove Salmon and Deer Habitat Restoration Project continues to make great progress! This summer, the Kootznoowoo Cube Cove crew teamed up with the Angoon Youth Stewards and U.S. Forest Service on additional salmon-stream restoration work. Efforts this season include culvert removal, stream restoration, and forest thinning to improve important fish and wildlife habitat. The 2026 field season remains on track through the end of September.

In July, Angoon Guide Academy students partnered with Trout Unlimited to complete a fly-fishing unit covering casting, fly tying, and fisheries education, followed by a multi-day cross-Admiralty Island expedition. This experience strengthened their technical outdoor skills and prepared students for careers in guiding, tourism, and natural resource stewardship.
