Sam recently relocated to Juneau from Denver. They grew up in Chicago, and spent their high school years in Hawaii, before moving to Denver for college.
They coached gymnastics for five years with a competitive youth program at the University of Denver, and was the lead coach for two of the program’s levels, for the last two years.
Sam is a former level 8 gymnast, and dove for the University of Rochester before transferring to DU. They enjoy choreographing dance and floor for competitive gymnasts, and dabbling in circus arts, tricking, parkour, and hand balancing. Sam strives to help athletes build strength and confidence in a supportive environment and is excited to bring their diverse skill set to JDT.
Outside of coaching, Sam earned two bachelor’s degrees in physics and psychology, as well as a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. When they’re not coaching (or doing) flips, Sam works as a civil engineer at proHNS.
