X̱at áyá Gush Tlein, Goodlaawú áyá ax̱ saayí tsú. Naanya.aayí, X’átgu Hít dáx̱. Kiks.ádi yádi, Naanya.aayí ḵa Teeyhittaan dachx̱án áyá x̱at. Shtax’héen ḵwáan áwé uhaan. Lingít yoo x̱'atángi yoo x̱'ax̱aatánk ḵa koox̱asnéiych ax̱ tuwáa sigóo.

It has dawned on us again! I'm Gush Tlein, I hold the name Goodlawú too. I belong to the Naanya.aayí clan, Mudshark House. I’m the child of the Kiks.ádi and grandchild of the Naanya.aayí and Teeyhittaan. We are the people of the Stikine River. Speaking/teaching the Lingít language and practicing weaving are my passions.

I’ve had quite a bit of new followers lately and it’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself and popped in to say hello! Gunalchéesh for following along and supporting my work! 😊

Seeing this piece on display feels so surreal! ❤️🐸

My Frog Backbone Bag is currently on exhibit at Sealaska Heritage Institute through early December as part of the Celebration 2026 Juried Art Show.

This piece was inspired by the Kiks.ádi and Teeyhittaan aunties in Wrangell who I grew up admiring—women who carried our culture forward and kept it alive within our family across generations. As I wove this bag, I often thought about their strength, creativity, and the example they set for those of us who followed.

Once the exhibit ends, this bag will be gifted to a special frog in my family, which makes sharing it in this show even more meaningful.
