⚡ He released it two days before Nixon resigned — and the whole country felt it.Stevie Wonder dropped You Haven't Done Nothin' on August 7, 1974 as a direct, furious broadside aimed at President Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal. Two days later, Nixon was forced to resign the Presidency. The song hit #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the R&B chart — Wonder's fourth pop #1 and tenth R&B #1. 🔥📌 🎶 Stevie Wonder - You Haven't Done Nothin' 🎶 💔 🎶 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 👇👇

🎤 America ignored it. Britain loved it. And two years after it flopped at No. 77 — the UK re-released it and took it all the way to No. 7."I'll Say Forever My Love" was recorded October 1967 at Hitsville USA — written and produced by James Dean and William Weatherspoon. Released February 13, 1968, it peaked at only No. 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 — continuing a frustrating pattern where Motown gave Jimmy Ruffin little promotional support in the US market after his initial success with "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted." 💔📌 🎶 Jimmy Ruffin - I'll Say Forever My Love 🎶 💔 🎶 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 👇👇

🎤 After four consecutive No. 1 hits, Berry Gordy gave Michael Jackson a ballad — and a 12-year-old delivered something nobody expected from a boy who had only ever topped the charts with dance records.
"Maybe Tomorrow" was written and produced by The Corporation — recorded in February 1971 at The Sound Factory in West Hollywood — and released June 22, 1971 as the second single from the Maybe Tomorrow album, with Michael Jackson on lead vocals. 🎹📌 🎶 Jackson 5 - Maybe Tomorrow 🎶 💔 🎶 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 👇👇

🎤 One was the voice of "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted." The other sang "My Girl" for The Temptations. In 1970, the two brothers finally made an album together — and it was Jimmy's idea.
Jimmy thought it was a natural: David had just left The Temptations after recording "My Girl," "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," and "I Wish It Would Rain" — his solo debut had hit the Top 10. Jimmy was the biggest-selling British male artist of 1966. I Am My Brother's Keeper was the stunning result — Jimmy and David feeding off each other, a whole history of their upbringing and influences poured into 12 performances. 🎹 Full story below comment 👇👇 "

🎤 Norman Whitfield wrote the music in 1964. Eddie Holland added the lyrics two years later. The Miracles recorded it first — unreleased. Jimmy Ruffin recorded it too — also unreleased. Then his brother David finally got it — and it went to No. 1.
Norman Whitfield recorded the instrumental track in April 1964 — intending it for the Temptations from the start. Two years later he got Eddie Holland to write the lyrics. The Miracles recorded a version, unreleased. Jimmy Ruffin cut one — also unreleased. Finally, on May 11, 1966, the Temptations recorded it with David Ruffin on lead. 🎹📌 🎶 The Temptations - Beauty Is Only Skin Deep 🎶 💔 🎶 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 👇👇

🎤 Jimmy Ruffin recorded it first. His brother David's group covered it. Marvin Gaye covered it. Paul Williams sang it. Norman Whitfield wrote it about a man getting out of prison. One song — four Motown legends.
"Gonna Give Her All the Love I've Got" was recorded by Jimmy Ruffin at Hitsville USA in August 1966 — written and produced by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong. The lyric has a hidden social dimension: a man counting down to his release from prison, riding the train home to the woman who waited. 🎸📌 🎶 Jimmy Ruffin - Gonna Give Her All the Love I've Got 🎶 💔 🎶 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 👇👇

🎤 Ali-Ollie Woodson stepped into David Ruffin's shoes in 1983. Three years later, this song proved he'd made them his own — taking the Temptations back into the R&B Top 5 in the era of New Jack Swing."Lady Soul" was recorded for the To Be Continued... album (1986) — written by Mark Holden and produced by Peter Bunetta and Rick Chudacoff. The mid-tempo ballad features Ali-Ollie Woodson on lead vocals, praising his "lady" for warming his heart and making him whole. 🎹📌 🎶 The Temptations - Lady Soul 🎶 💔 🎶 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 👇👇

🥁 Before "What's Going On," before "Let's Get It On," before any of it — Marvin Gaye was the drummer nobody knew was in the room.
When Marvin Gaye joined Motown in 1961, his first job wasn't as a singer — it was as a session drummer. He played on many songs by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and was behind the kit on Motown's very first No. 1 hit: "Please Mr. Postman" by the Marvelettes. 🎹📢Marvin Gaye began at Motown as a drummer🎵 Full story below comment 👇👇

🎤 The Undisputed Truth recorded it first — and it peaked at No. 63. Then Norman Whitfield rebuilt it from scratch for the Temptations and made it 12 minutes long. Dennis Edwards hated the restrained delivery Whitfield demanded — until he heard the playback.Whitfield wanted the vocal bland and controlled. Edwards pushed back: "I wanted to put more on it. I didn't want it to be so bland. Every time I would try to over-sing it, he would change it. He would make me mad." Then he heard the finished record: "I did not appreciate it until I heard the record. And I said, 'Wow.' What he was doing — he was getting me into a certain mood." 🎹📌 The Temptations - Papa Was A Rollin' Stone 🎶 💔 🎶 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 👇👇

🎤 Berry Gordy hated it. He tried to kill Stevie's version — twice. It still went to No. 2, blocked only by Marvin Gaye.
"For Once in My Life" was written by Ron Miller and Orlando Murden in 1965 as a slow ballad — and passed around Motown for years. The Temptations recorded it first as a slow ballad in 1967. Then 18-year-old Stevie Wonder recorded it as an upbeat version, but Berry Gordy did not like it at all. 🎹 📌 🎶 Stevie Wonder - For Once in My Life 🎶 💔 🎶 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 👇👇
