We were pleased to dedicate the Rotary Sculpture Garden Peace Pole today, on International Friendship Day. We were joined by 6 international students from MSSU, members of the Sculpture Garden Board, Soroptimists, and others. We joined the 200,000 Peace Poles which are an iconic symbol of May Peace Prevail on Earth International, founded in Japan over fifty years ago. Over the decades, Peace Poles, which carry the message May Peace Prevail on Earth have been planted by supporters the world over in every region and continent on earth. With the mission of spreading a universal message of peace, the Peace Pole organization is a grassroots movement committed to awakening consciousness by planting that message in the hearts and minds of our global family.

Visit the Peace Pole in Mercy Park provided by the Rotary Clubs of Joplin. In 8 languages is a message of peace.
Today is the International Day of Friendship, an official United Nations observance celebrated every year on July 30. Proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2011, the day promotes the idea that friendship between people, countries, and cultures can inspire peace efforts and build bridges across communities.
