The theatre community lost one of its great originals today.
Tim Curry was an actor with decades of unforgettable appearances on stage and screen. He originated Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show before taking the role to Broadway and ultimately to the screen, and his remarkable stage career included acclaimed performances in Amadeus, My Favorite Year, and Spamalot. In tv and movies Tim never failed to deliver iconic performances across a broad spectrum of roles - from the sleazy Rooster Hannigan in Annie, to the nightmare-inducing Pennywise the Clown in IT, to eccentric naturist Nigel Thornberry in The Wild Thornberrys.
For generations of theatre performers, Curry represented permission to be bold. He embraced the strange, the theatrical, the outrageous, the funny, and the frightening.
From all of us at Joplin Little Theatre, we dim the lights and raise a glass to a remarkable performer who will be missed.
