Congratulations to all of our 2026 IHSMTA Schools!

The hard work, talent, and passion shown by all of our students and educators both on and off-stage is such an inspiration. We hope that you have found great joy in the stories you told and the communities that you have created with each other. We are so proud to count you all as part of our IHSMTA Family!

"I stopped trying to strive for that bland surface level of acting and emphasized the parts where I saw fit, using humor as a way of that. Kristoff isn’t the typical comedic relief character, but I see the most laughs out of him during the parts that weren’t written to be intentionally funny. Scenes that didn’t have any serious undertones or making uncomfortable situations more uncomfortable is what Kristoff does best. These aren’t flaws of his, but what makes his growth such a lovely journey to watch." - Devin Hoffman, Kristoff in Plainfield South High School's production of "Frozen"📷: Jennifer Heim Photography

"I wanted to do such a beloved character justice, but I was not sure I could fully access him. In studying Olaf more deeply, I began to understand his purpose: Olaf is the story’s levity. He is more than just an endearing friend for the younger audience members to fawn over. He is the embodiment of childhood innocence and sisterly love. He combats the heavy themes of isolation and anxiety with his unwavering hope for warmth, even if he may melt. Contrary to my initial judgement, Olaf’s optimism is not ignorance, but resilience." - Julianne Trompeta, Olaf in Plainfield South High School's production of "Frozen" 📷: Jennifer Heim Photography

"This experience taught me a lot about who I am. Even though I am bubbly and cheerful, I have so much determination, and much like Anna, I take all of me and put it into becoming the best version of myself. Anna has taught me so much and I am so beyond happy to have been able to tell this story from my perspective. Hopefully I was able to inspire so many other little girls to not give up on their dreams, too, because you never know what you can do unless you put your mind to it." - Jordan Stanton, Anna in Plainfield South High School's production of "Frozen" 📷: Jennifer Heim Photography

"Like Elsa, I am the oldest sibling with a younger sister, which made it easy for me to connect to her protectiveness over Anna. I know I would do anything to protect my sister, and I deeply relate to the sisterly love Elsa shows. Elsa is also very reserved and afraid of what others will think if her true self is revealed. I used to be shy and lacked confidence as well. It wasn’t until I started performing that I realized you shouldn’t be afraid to be yourself. Stepping onto the stage gave me the confidence to express emotions I once kept hidden and to embrace the parts of myself I was hesitant to share. In many ways, playing Elsa felt like telling my own story, learning to let go of fear and trust in who I am." - Mila Aloisio, Elsa in Plainfield South High School's production of "Frozen" 📷: Jennifer Heim Photography
