Life doesn’t always go according to plan, and one of the greatest lessons we hope our dancers leave Burklyn with is the ability to adapt.

This week, they got to experience that lesson firsthand. With the power out for most of the day, we had a choice: let the day stop us or find another way forward. So, we took rehearsal outside into the field, where the dancers embraced the challenge with positivity, resilience, and teamwork.

The stage may have changed, but the commitment, artistry, and determination remained the same. In dance and in life there will always be unexpected obstacles. Learning how to pivot, stay focused, and make the best of every situation is just as important as perfecting technique.

The show must go on… and it did. Watch last nights performance to see their hard work come to life.

For week 4, we were excited to welcome Kassandra Taylor Newberry to Burklyn Ballet Theatre for her first summer as a master teacher.

An internationally acclaimed choreographer and educator, Kassandra brought incredible energy, creativity, and artistry to the studio. Throughout the week, she challenged our dancers to push beyond their limits while encouraging them to explore movement with confidence and intention. Her passion for teaching and ability to connect with students made a powerful impact on everyone she worked with.

We are so grateful Kassandra spent the week with us and hope this is the first of many summers at Burklyn. Thank you for inspiring our dancers and sharing your artistry with our community!🩰✨🤍💙

Our Intermediate Program has been part of the Burklyn family since 1995, making it a special part of our 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Under the direction of Brianna Mesa and Assistant Kira Arauz, our Intermediate dancers had a wonderful summer filled with growth, learning, and making memories both in and out of the studio.

We were so excited to have them perform with us this summer and loved seeing all their hard work come to life on stage! 🤍🩰✨

Week 3 at Burklyn Ballet Theatre was an incredible experience with master teacher Yvonne Racz.✨

Yvonne brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the studio, with a career spanning professional performance, artistic leadership, and dance education. This past week, she worked with our students on Paquita, sharing not only the artistry of classical ballet but also her thoughtful approach to healthy, inclusive training.

We are so grateful to have Yvonne back at Burklyn, inspiring the next generation of dancers with her passion, expertise, and dedication to the art form.💙🩰

Last week, Burklyn Ballet Theatre was honored to welcome back master teacher Dylan Crossman.

A Franco-Canadian dancer, choreographer, and educator, Dylan brought a wealth of international experience to our students through his contemporary classes and the creation of his work, Injonctions Contradictoires. Drawing from his years with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, he challenged our dancers to explore movement with curiosity, intention, and individuality.

Thank you, Dylan, for sharing your artistry, insight, and creative process with our students over the past 20 years. We were proud to see Injonctions Contradictoires come to life on the Burklyn stage and your collaboration with our pianist Jared Oaks. We are grateful to have had you as part of our 50th summer✨💙🤍🩰

✨ 4 days until Burklyn Ballet Theatre’s 50th Anniversary Celebration! ✨

Today we’re celebrating the Intermediate Program, established in 1995. For more than 30 years, it has provided young dancers with the opportunity to build a strong technical foundation, grow in confidence, and prepare for the next stage of their training.

As we count down to our 50th Anniversary Celebration, we want to thank all of the Intermediate Program directors who have helped this program grow and inspire generations of dancers. Your dedication has left a lasting impact on the Burklyn family.
