Seek freedom and become captive of your desires. Seek discipline and find your liberty (Frank Hebert). The truth is a fact the world rejects. One of such infallible conceptions of the truth is that the desires of Man has the capacity to capture Him. The escape route for him is to have control over his tastes, desires, ambitions and more importantly Himself. Slavery is an idea that changes form from one dispensation to another and as it changes its form, so does the Masters change.
Man captures parrot for his pleasure, teaches it how to speak and sometimes reap an harvest of secrets which aught not to be spoken of. Hence, the prey becomes the predator through the power of words. Such is the irony of life. Tables of power turn, times and seasons pass, the prey becomes the predator and the bush meat catches the hunter. Everything Man does in life is a seed and a harvest is always greater than the seed. Every yesterday was once today and today will become yesterday tommorow.

A soul untethered.
A state of consciousness.
A process of becoming.
A place where becoming takes precedence over belonging.
The road itself is, paradoxically, home.
a place where identity is found in the act of traversing.

Another year around the sun.

Grateful to God for reconciliation, growth, and strength

Still learning. Still evolving. Still trusting the process.

Today I celebrate the journey, the lessons, the people, and the purpose.

Happy Birthday to me.

There are stories beneath every surface, and every surface carries its own weight.

On January 30, Surface, Spirit, and Sand, a virtual exhibition of my recent and earlier works, opened with the Tennessee Arts Commission, and it runs until March 27.

This body of work captures a season of transition in my life: geographic, cultural, and spiritual experiences. The sand you see in my recent pieces is not just a material; it is history, tradition, identity, creation, and. It carries the weight of memories. It holds ancestry and the quiet conversations between the past, present, and future.
As a Nigerian artist living in the United States, I am constantly learning, unlearning, and relearning. These works reflect that journey through layered experiences, textures, symbols, and motifs drawn from Yoruba visual language and my personal experiences.

Thanks to Krishna Adams, Director of Visual Arts, Craft, Media, and Design, at Tennessee Arts Commission, for curating and sharing this Exhibition.

Amid the glow of lights and the beauty of decorations, it’s easy to overlook the quiet gifts that cost nothing—a gentle phone call, an unhurried visit, a shared smile. Yet the greatest gift of all is not found beneath the tree; it is Christ, and the love we are called to share through Him. As we celebrate this season, may we choose presence over presents, nurture meaningful connections, and hold close the moments that truly matter.

Before I recognized its significance, sand was something easily brushed aside and discarded, much like the fleeting drawings I made as a child. In graduate school, I focus on sand as a material and symbol of my artistic journey. Growing up in Nigeria, art was not seen as a good career, so I was not encouraged as a child to pursue it. I had to be resourceful by using accessible materials like sand to make art. I created drawings by using my finger in sand. Even when people walked over them, I would always go back to draw over each line multiple times. I likened this process to one symbol, the spiral. The spiral motif represents continuity and growth in the Yorùbá culture. The central point of the spiral can be regarded as the beginning of my art career, with recurring circular patterns as the continuation of my growth. The use of sand on canvas evokes a sense of nostalgia and innocence, suggesting a connection to my early childhood experiences.
