Just a quick story, we had some difficulty finding a mason that could do brick, tuck pointing and stucco.
Last month while in town I had visited Jewell's farmer market on Saturday morning.
I found everyone there just completely pleasant and wonderful. I bought some rhubarb for my mother, some fresh bread and some strawberry preserves. Everyone knew we were with the former axis bowling and it asked when we were going to open! I had stated we really hope this fall but we are really struggling , getting some construction work done on the exterior of the building.
Ayways, one of the ladies there referred Saul from The Excellent touch. She has used him for tuck pointing on her home last summer (and sent me his card).
we've gotten great referrals from Heidi with Jade, And have used jerome the plumber,met the guys from trackside welding, and are hiring Seamless pros for metal, vent work as well.
We continue to buy supplies from our neighbor at the Farm and Home store.
Just want to thank the amazing local community, J.A.D.E., Hamilton county and the state of Iowa for fields of opportunity!

Thank you Hamilton County and Jade for helping us get critical grant funds for more direly needed building work 🙏
(Building is owned under KC Budget Storage)
Hopefully we get the bats and birds permanently residing outside of the attic!

The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation (EHCF) has announced the recipients of the final Hamilton County SEED Catalyst Grant fund, distributing $23,354 in funds. The grants were awarded as follows:

- Hamilton County Development - Housing Assessment: $1,957.20

- Jewell Market (Jewell) - Digital Price Tags: $12,000

- Handcrafted FCD (Jewell) - Concrete Pad for West Alley Entrance: $970

- KC Storage (Jewell) - Exterior Facade Work: $6,976.80

- Copperhead Saloon & Grill (Stratford) - Electrical Updates: $1,450

This grant program has supported businesses and organizations by distributing over $230,000 aiming to foster economic development and community improvement in Ellsworth, Jewell, Stanhope, and Stratford. A grant review committee comprised of representatives from these communities and the county reviewed applications and recommended fund allocations to the EHCF Board.

The SEED Catalyst grant program has operated separately from the EHCF’s Annual Grant Program and awarded funds quarterly.

55th Anniversary Jewell Jubilee

Long post...Just over a year ago we purchased Axis Lanes and it continues to be a long journey, but Major changes have been occurring behind the doors,
and there is a chance we may be ready for fall leagues in 2024 🤞
New bowling pedestals,
new wood and carpet/tile to shore the back lanes, water and gas pipe repairs,
bathroom repairs (women's bathroom finally has working lights), and countless more items...
Local grants,
and local help has been amazing helping with everything from the new roof last summer to getting the bowling lanes and equipment back working (still lots of work and new pins and shoes needed).
Long way to go with painting and carpentry work and most critically we have some major facade and window renovations that have to occur this summer in order to open, but with the main street streetscape coming along in downtown Jewell we see a glimpse that we could be ready... and we should even have fiber internet late summer! (critical component to a new business model).
We appreciate everyone's interest and patience.
Just drove back from picking up some vintage brunswick chairs in Pennsylvania that will also look incredible and improve the bowling experience and aesthetics SO much!
Like and follow our page as we will begin to update this page more and more the closer we get to
opening and unveil some exciting surprises!

The addition of the retro games and 80's decor will really be something special.
