Reverse Glass Painting Meets Cake Decorating!

Our Visual Arts 3 students have been mastering the art of reverse glass painting, a unique technique where designs are painted on one side of the glass and viewed from the other. But we didn’t stop there—students took their newfound skills and applied them to reserving icing drawing to create beautifully decorated cakes!

By flipping their perspective and working in layers, they learned how precision, patience, and creativity can transform both glass and frosting into works of art.

Check out their amazing creations and the journey from paintbrush to piping bag!

Celebrating Black Artists in Visual Arts 4!

Our Visual Arts 4 students have been diving deep into Black art history, researching influential Black artists and writing essays to share their impact. But they didn’t stop there! Each student also created a portrait of their chosen artist in the artist’s own signature style, bringing their work to life in a meaningful and creative way.

To showcase their hard work, we hosted a special Art Walk during all four lunches, where students, and staff explored the powerful artwork on display. But the experience didn’t end with the visuals—our Culinary Arts students prepared delicious greens and cornbread to celebrate culture through food, while Drama students performed moving Black History Month monologues that captivated the audience.

It was an unforgettable celebration of black history, art, and creativity. Huge shoutout to all the students and teachers who made this event possible!

🎨✨ Typography Takes the Spotlight in Visual Arts 3! ✨🎨

Our Visual Arts 3 students took on an exciting challenge—designing logos using typography for a food truck competition! 🚚🍔 From brainstorming brand identities to crafting eye-catching logos, menus, and even 3D food truck models, creativity was in full swing.

The competition culminated in a Shark Tank-style presentation, where our student entrepreneurs pitched their businesses to a panel of judges, hoping to land an investment. 💼🔥

As the year comes to a close, we want to show off our senior's accomplishments! We have made memories with these fantastic students, and I know each one will go on to do amazing things! They will be missed on the 600 hall at WCHS!

NAHS students must meet the required GPA and community service hours to receive the cord. This group of students went above and beyond for our community. They showed leadership and set an excellent example for others.

Visual Arts 4 students had to take the four required classes and complete the capstone. The capstone consent of
*Evidence of their thought process
*Ten previous portfolio items.
*Creating symbolic portraits that represent them.
*Theme project, which is a body of work that concentrates on a specific topic.
*Students had to create their branding, which included a resume, logo, business card, brochure, and website.
*Professional Experience Essay
*Artist Research Paper
*Series. For the series, students selected their favorite medium to create a body of work.
These students worked endless hours with lots of crumbled pieces of paper till they were proud of the art they created to receive that pink cord!

VA1 spent weeks learning and drawing the human face using the grid method. This allows students to see proportion and break down the complexity of the face. Students used the knowledge to draw themselves and a few of the wonderful leaders we have an WCHS.
Hope you enjoy!
