Ontario’s Immigration Draw Targets French Speakers in 2025
Ontario has issued its first French-speaking immigration draw of 2025, inviting 984 skilled candidates through its Express Entry-linked French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream. This January 11 draw required a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 317 and 469, giving priority to proficient French speakers looking to contribute to Ontario’s workforce. The draw is part of Ontario’s commitment to maintain and grow its Francophone population, especially outside of Quebec, where the federal government aims to boost Francophone economic immigration by 4.4% nationally.
This move highlights the province’s focus on attracting diverse, multilingual talent in order to support both economic growth and cultural diversity. Applicants must demonstrate strong language skills in French while meeting education and work experience requirements. Ontario plans to conduct more of these targeted draws to meet its expected 2025 immigration quota while strengthening Francophone communities across the region.
