Announcement of the Passing of Mel Colchamiro

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mel Colchamiro, a cherished figure in the bridge world, who left us on February 18, 2026.

Mel was not only a Grand Life Master but also a beloved teacher, mentor, author, magazine contributor, and friend to countless players, especially here on Long Island.

His passion for bridge was matched only by his dedication to teaching. Mel authored the insightful book, "How You Can Play Like an Expert," coined the “Rules of bridge”, and sharing his knowledge and strategies with many aspiring players.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and the many players he inspired.

Please join us at a memorial this Sunday, to celebrate him.

It with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beautiful friend, Susan Madorsky. I will miss her kind smile and her infectious giggle.

Along with Susan, I have come to learn that our Sagamore friends, Mr and Mrs Herb Kranzer passed earlier last month, days apart.

May they all Rest In Peace.

LEARN BEGINNER BRIDGE ONLINE~ Classes start Nov 2nd in the EVENINGS

The bridge world lost a wonderful woman yesterday. My partner and friend, Ora Lourie, of Jourdan’s bridge club in Delray. For over 45 years she championed for the game in teaching, playing and competing. She will be greatly missed and our only hope is to continue her life’s work in her honor.
