A quick visit a the “A shell called Neptune-“ exhibit became a so long visit! A 🔴 on “Anticipation; Hope and Worry” is a happy surprise!! Thanks to The Bailey Art Gallery staff for finding my heron family a new home.

The exhibit runs until April, so there’s still time to drop by, especially if you are doing the Hobe Sound Arts Gallery, Studio and mural tour next weekend.

The exhibition takes its title from “The Gift” - a poem by the late, Hobe Sound–based, Pulitzer Prize–winning poet Mary Oliver, whose writing reflects close observation of nature and a deep respect for the living world.

All twenty participating artists are based in Florida’s Treasure Coast region. Their works depict local environments, native wildlife, and marine ecosystems, offering insight into the biodiversity and natural character of this coastal area. By presenting artistic interpretations of the natural world, the exhibition demonstrates how art can serve as an educational tool—encouraging environmental awareness, ecological understanding, and thoughtful reflection on humanity’s relationship with nature.

Participating artists include Michaelann Bellerjeau, Kimberly Beltrame, Mallo Bisset, Deborah Bottorff, Sally Pearson Browning, Adrienne Davis, Torenzo Gann, Meredith Graf Owens, Leslie Hanner, Denise Jackson, Helga Jensen-Ruopp, Chris Kling, Tina Kraft, Karen Leffel-Massengill, Susan Martin, Mary Ann Pults, Jane Saull, Jordan Silvia, Kirsty Smith-Innis, and Laura Steinhauer.

For additional information or questions regarding the exhibition, please contact Maureen Mahony at [email protected] or by phone at (718) 312-9331.

This is late but I’m posting anyway because it was so fun!

I painted again at Kai-Kai Farms, but this time on a warm, golden-lit, memorable Valentine’s Day event full of delicious food, soft music, and the hum of sweet conversation from the delightful crowd of love-birds. The evening could not have been more perfect in spite of the iffy Jan/Feb weather we’ve had here in Florida.

Many folks drifted by, curious about the painting and process. I love chatting with folks as I paint, so many stories! As the painting neared completion, many inquired about purchasing it, but an early bird had already bought it before it was half done!

I’m honored indeed for the opportunity to capture such lovely evenings at Kai Kai on their eucalyptus lane, especially since Diane and Carl are such generous hosts who really love and respect nature, the earth, and its inhabitants. (Go to Diane’s video of the baby bunnies she unexpectedly found in her cabbage patch! Cute beyond words!) https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1GUYZzaQev/

The meal was amazing and created by chef's Mark Muller and Ian Reffner from Ellie’s Downtown and Dockside Deli & catering. Wine pairing by Gourmet Galaxy, music by Trevor Klutz.
