Dear JBHS Drama Families and patrons!
I am so excited to share that I have been selected as one of this year’s dancers for Dancing with the Martin Stars, a fundraising event benefiting the Healthy Start Coalition of Martin County!
As many of you know, I am always encouraging our students to step outside of their comfort zones and take creative risks… so now it’s my turn! This fall, I will be taking the stage for a cause that means so much to our community.
The JBHS Drama Department is working to raise $2,500 between now and May 28th,
2026, to purchase the Mambo Sponsorship for this incredible event. Purchasing this sponsorship not only helps support Healthy Start and the important work they do for families in Martin County, but it also promotes and highlights our amazing drama program within the community.
The Mambo Sponsorship includes:
A half-page advertisement in the event program
Our JBHS Drama logo featured on the event poster
Recognition on social media
Four tickets to the live show
Four tickets to the cocktail party
We plan to raffle off the event and cocktail party tickets during our Charity Concert in August as another fun way to support both our students and this wonderful cause. The sponsorship will also be credited toward my fundraising total as one of this year’s dancers.
Unfortunately, with the closing of the maternity wards in Martin County, there are currently no birthing centers in our county. Healthy Start provides critical in-home support for families during pregnancy and early infancy, while also training doulas, supporting fathers, and offering screenings to identify risk factors in pregnant women. Because of their programs and outreach, there is a 72% lower infant mortality rate among Healthy Start home-visiting families.
Healthy Start also launched the MOM Mobile, bringing prenatal care directly to expectant mothers in Golden Gate, East Stuart, Indiantown, and Hobe Sound to help ensure healthy pregnancies and babies throughout our community. They are currently working toward building a birthing center right here in Martin County.
As a mother of two children who were both born here in Martin County, this mission is deeply personal to me. Access to quality healthcare for mothers and babies should never require families to leave their community.
If you would like to help us reach our $2,500 goal by May 28th, donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. Your support not only helps an incredible organization, but also allows JBHS Drama to be part of something truly meaningful in our community.
Thank you, as always, for supporting our students, our program, and the arts. I cannot wait to share this experience with all of you — and hopefully survive learning the tango along the way!
