After today’s matinee performance, our first week of Steel Magnolias performances comes to a close 💐

What an incredible weekend it has been. We’ve laughed, cried, and shared this beautiful story with so many wonderful audience members. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and made this weekend so special.

But don’t worry — we’ll be back next weekend to do it all again! If you haven’t made your trip to Truvy’s salon yet, there’s still time ❤️

We had such a fun time showing Traveling with Terin and Tanya Ardoin around Jennings before the premiere of Steel Magnolias.

Our friend Ryleigh Leger started out the day at The Gator Chareau to learn about the resident gators, upcoming events and everything offered there. Big shout out to Kaylee for always being so welcoming when we have visitors coming to Jennings!

Next we headed to Southern Crumbs LLC for the viral fruit pastries. These were to die for! Soooo good! They were a hit! A big thank you to Tara and her sweet team of employees! The drinks and sweets are always a must when we have friends coming to Jennings! Tara always welcomes us and makes us feel right at home!

You know our next stop HAS to be the hidden gem of Jennings Main St. Antiques & Interiors. Lori and the gals there are always a breath of fresh air! They have everything that you need, want and so much more! There’s always something new to you to see. We always stop by for a new found treasure but mainly for a visit with the sweetest ladies of Jeff Davis parish! We go for the antiques but stay for the friendships.

We worked up an appetite after all of that so we went straight to Greens Cafe. Of course we had to get a burger! The owners came out and personally welcomed us. Then they served up the best, fresh cooked foods that hit the spot.

Then it was show time! On to the theater. Bailey Guidroz Landry greeted our guests and gave them a personal tour of the Steel Magnolias exhibit presented by the Creative Circle in partnership with The Zigler Art Museum. Our guests got backstage access and met our cast and crew. We got our guests popcorn and brought them to their seats to watch Steel Magnolias.

We love bringing new friends in to Jennings. Not just to see our shows, but to really immerse them in our community and our culture. Jennings is our home. We welcome all who come here with friendship, smiling faces and firm “come back and see us anytime”.

Thank you Terin and Tanya for coming experience just some of what our town has to offer and for our new friendship. Thank you to Ryleigh for being a wonderful host. And thank you! To everyone who welcomed our guests.

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your role in Steel Magnolias.

🌸This was definitely a change from the typically roles I’ve played in the past. It’s been an honor portraying such a remarkable person. Shelby can come off to some as “too stubborn” or an “unnecessary risk taker,” but this is so far from the truth. Her resilience to embrace the wonders of life while enduring such severe challenges is a remarkable strength we can all hope to strive towards.

2. What drew you to this character?

🌸Her passion for life and wanting to live it to the fullest.

3. Which line from Steel Magnolias is your favorite?

🌸I’m not crazy. I’ve just been in a very bad mood for 40 years.

4. What has been your favorite moment in rehearsals so far?

🌸Growing our friendships on stage together!

5. Describe the show in 3 words

🌸Chosen Family Antics

6. If your character had a theme song what would it be?

🌸Luckily, my character already has one: The Hawaii Five-0 theme song!

7. Which character do you relate to most?

🌸M’lynn. I tend to worry enough for everyone!

8. If the salon were real, what would you be known for there?

🌸The random customer that shows up every five or so years for a haircut!

9. What is your favorite part about working with this cast?

🌸The dedication and care they gave to developing these characters!

🌸Bashful! (If I was forced to choose pink!)

Meet the incredible actress bringing M’Lynn to life in Steel Magnolias! Sadia Duncan 🌸
Full of warmth, strength, and heart, she’s ready to take audiences on an emotional journey you won’t forget. Get to know her a little better in our latest cast interview!

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your role in Steel Magnolias.

🌸Hi, I’m Sadia and I have the privilege of playing M'Lynn Eatenton. M’Lynn is Shelby's mom and she’s the steady, practical one in the group. She loves her family fiercely and would do absolutely anything for them.

2. What drew you to this show? This character?

🌸I've always loved Steel Magnolias because it's funny, heartfelt, and so real. M'Lynn has always stood out to me; she's an incredibly strong and loving mother, just like mine.

3. Which line from Steel Magnolias is your favorite?

🌸"'Life goes on.”

4. How are you most like your character? How are you different?

🌸I would like to think I am protective of the people I care about. The difference is that she's usually the calm one holding everything together, and I think I show my emotions a little sooner than she does.

5. What has been your favorite moment in rehearsals so far?

🌸Honestly, just getting to know each of these women a bit more than I did before. We've had a lot of laughs, and it's been fun watching these characters come to life.

6. Describe the show in 3 words.

🌸Funny. Heartfelt. Timeless

8. What is something that your character teaches you?

🌸M'Lynn teaches me that strength isn't about never breaking down. It's about continuing to love and show up for the people around you, even during life's hardest moments.

9. Which character do you relate to most?

🌸Probably M'Lynn. She's practical, family-oriented, and always wants to take care of everyone around her

10. If the salon were real, what would you be known for there?

🌸Probably answering everyone's computer questions while I waited for my appointment.

11. What is your favorite part about working with this cast?

🌸The people. Life is busy between work, family, and everything else, so it's been wonderful spending time with such a talented and welcoming group of people and these fools are fun!

12. Blush or Bashful?

🌸Blush. M'Lynn is practical and classic, and I think she'd appreciate something reliable and timeless!

🌸This show is special because it celebrates the strength of women, the importance of friendship, and the love we have for our families. No matter who you are, there's something in this story that feels familiar.

Yall! We will be out and about before the curtains go up! Come out and say hey 👋 and welcome our new friends! Let’s show them all that our sweet little town has to offer 🩷

Tomorrow, Tanya Ardoin and I are heading to Jennings, Louisiana to catch a performance of Steel Magnolias at The Strand Theatre! I'm excited to experience this classic Southern story brought to life on stage and support the talented local cast and crew. Tickets are still on sale if anyone is interested in attending one of their shows.

Of course, y'all know I'll be exploring a little while we're there! We'll be making a few stops around Jennings to check out some local businesses, hidden gems, and places that make this community special. A huge thank you to Amy with A Block off Broadway Community Theatre in Jennings for reaching out to Leauxcal and setting up this experience for us.
