Today, Monday Marketplace is honoring the 250th anniversary of our country called Semiquincentennial! We are getting ready with the red, white, and blue! First, Kelli shows us the beautiful All American Afghan that she made for a store model. It is crocheted and used 15 skeins of Plymouth Encore Worsted. Any other worsted weight yarn could be used for this afghan. The stars are individually made and sewn together and then the stripes are added on. This would be a great heirloom piece. Next, Pam shows some counted cross stitch patterns and samples made by Cher. There are more patterns with lots of choices for your fabrics. From the card making department, Sue shows some samples of cards made to celebrate the occasion. Glitter papers and dies are available for your own creative patriotic cards. From our giftware department, we have patriotic socks, music boxes, air fresheners and more. Last, we show new yarns made by Up North Yarns. There are three different options of this fi*****ng weight yarn; more tonal red, white, and blue, glitter yarn and a variety with speckles.

Today, on Monday Marketplace, we are taking a look at spring/summer shawls. What makes these shawls different from others is that they are all made from other fibers other than wool. Even though it’s getting warmer, there are times where a little shawl is appreciated. We start with the Kassel shawl made from Berroco Tillie. Another smaller shawl using this same yarn is called Neato. This hand dyed chainette yarn is made from 62% Pima cotton, 38% cupro with 375 yards per skein. The next garment called Andrea is larger and more like a poncho. This one has both knit and crochet options. Our model is made from Juniper Moon Farm Summer Soltice with a blend of cotton, rayon, linen and polyester, 295 yards. With one skein of Araucania Huasco Coton Glisten, 94% cotton, 6% man made fibers, 437 yards, you can make the Traveling Solo shawl. Starting with a Granny Shawl is crocheted from Berroco Modern Cotton. This heavier shawl can be made in many different color choices for a unique look. Of course, we need to include the Sophie scarf worn by Pam and made from Universal Bamboo Pop Sock and a strand of glitter. If you don’t want to add the glitter, you can use a single strand of Bamboo Pop. Sue is wearing the crocheted rectangular shawl called Liana, made from Juniper Moon Farm Marilyn. This, too, has a tiny sequin in the cotton and nylon blend with 503 yards per ball.
