Dolly Parton grew up with a father that couldn’t read or write. Because of this, she started her Imagination Library in her home of Sevier County, Tennessee. Now, 30 years later, her reach is global. As of 2024, 1 in 7 children under the age of 5 in the US receives a monthly book from Dolly. The gift of literacy is one many take for granted, but not Dolly. In addition to her Imagination Library, she also covers 100% of tuition for her theme park employees who are seeking higher education.
Today, after the news of her passing, we honor everything this beautiful soul did for instilling the love of books and reading into younger generations.
