It's DAY ONE at the 2026-2027 SCWBA Student Build, in partnership with School District of Janesville, WI. Students spent the first several days in the classroom learning site safety, basic tool handling, and participated in site readiness training. Today they stepped on the build site for the first time accompanied by long time instructor, Mr. Joe Kruser, some still removing the price tags from their toolbelts.

SCWBA was there to welcome the afternoon class, discussing the opportunities they will have throughout the year, and beyond, through SCWBA and our members.

Students from this class shared their plans for the future, most of which are in the building trades. We met 2 future electricians, 2 future plumbers, 3 future HVAC, one future construction manager, one future lineman (trades), and one future firefighter. We also met another kind of future lineman, in football, who has a backup plan in accounting...future SCWBA treasurer perhaps?

We will do our best to keep encouraging these future trades workers and will support them no matter what pathway they choose to pursue when the time comes.

We can't wait to see this year's build come to life, under the general contracting direction of our members at Sockness Builders, Inc.!

We're in the final weeks of planning the 2026 SCWBA Parade of Homes. Even so, we're never too busy to hit pause and play along for a good cause, and we literally got 'sucked in' on this one!

SCWBA is a proud supporter of "Battle for the Throne" a fundraiser for Boys & Girls club of Janesville! Seriously though, where did builder Bob go?...down the drain?! 🤣

We are excited to share that the 2025–2026 SCWBA Student Build has an accepted offer!

This year’s home represents an incredible collaboration between the South Central Wisconsin Builders Association, Kaiser Design Build, and the School District of Janesville, WI—bringing hands-on learning, local craftsmanship, and community partnership together in a truly meaningful way.

The home was listed by Realty Executives Premier and overseen by Broker/Associate Kelly McPherson. We are proud to help bring this special project one step closer to its next chapter.

After being showcased in the 2026 SCWBA Parade of Homes, the home is scheduled to close on September 25th.
