Roger Tory Peterson continues to inspire! We were part of a panel presentation at the annual conference for the National Organization for Arts in Health yesterday. Studio G, led in part by the inspiring Ermyn King, has developed a program to support the mental health of children, hospitalized sometimes for months, through sharing the story of Roger and the beauty of birds. The creativity and passion that Studio G brings to support children and their families in these challenging situations is truly inspiring. We know that Roger would be so pleased to have his legacy and passion for birds used for a purpose like this. We are grateful for all they do!

Our 2027 theme, inspired by A Field Guide to the Stars and Planets, Dark Skies will explore the night skies and what they mean to us. Artists are invited to turn their attention upwards and explore the night skies - from birds that navigate in the darkness, to animals that awaken when dusk settles, to the effects of space pollution, and what lies beyond the Earth's atmosphere.

This year, we are thrilled to announce that Jon Lomberg will be serving as our guest juror! Lomberg is one of the world's most celebrated astronomical artists. He was Carl Sagan's principal artistic collaborator for over two decades. He was also the Design Director for NASA's Voyager Golden Record. 2027 celebrates the fifty-year anniversary of its launch.

This new exhibition displays dozens of Roger Tory Peterson paintings not shown in recent years. Guests will be the first to view original paintings, pencil sketches, and ink drawings by Roger spanning from 1941 to 1980. Also on display are some of his original photographs held in conversation with current photos reproduced courtesy of the Macaulay Library at Cornell.

Jim Berry, former President of RTPI and a Master Bird Ba**er, will provide brief opening remarks.

The evening also includes live music and charcuterie. A cash bar and nonalcoholic beverages will be available.
