King Manor Museum is a historic house that was home to the antislavery King Family from 1805 until 1896, most notably, framer of the United States Constitution, Rufus King (1755-1827). We are a community-oriented space located inside Rufus King Park. Our mission is to interpret founding father Rufus King’s political legacy and antislavery history to teach critical thinking for a healthier democracy.

📖 Zine Launch with King Manor and Melting Metropolis! ☀️

Summer is a dichotomy of danger and delight. Extreme heat is the leading cause of weather-related deaths in NYC. Residents in Southeast Queens and The Rockaways are some of the most at risk of dying of extreme heat. All while summer invites pleasure and fun.

Join us at King Manor to celebrate the end of this paradoxical season with a reading and zine launch of Living in a Melting Metropolis: Our Memories of Summer.

On September 6, the birthday of the Marquis de Lafayette, famous French officer and "hero of two worlds" who fought in the American Revolution alongside, we wanted to share this interesting little piece of silk....General Lafayette wore the sash on his visit to America in 1824. The sash was later given to Eliza Gracie King Halsey, the wife of Charles King, Rufus King’s son. She cut it into pieces to give to her descendants.

On September 17, we'll gather in the historic home of Rufus King—framer and signer of the Constitution, U.S. Senator, diplomat, and lifelong antislavery advocate—to fundraise for free programs that bring history to life for more than 7,000 schoolchildren and thousands of visitors every year.

While you're here, experience our current exhibitions, including "What Is America? Remembering the Bicentennial", which explores how Americans reimagined the nation's founding during the 1976 Bicentennial, and "Bangladesh Not "Bhaangadesh,"" a community-curated exhibition celebrating Bangladeshi identity, culture, and lived experience in Queens. Together, these exhibitions invite visitors to reflect on the many stories that shape America's past and present.

All proceeds from Constitution & Cocktails support King Manor Museum's free educational programs for thousands of students, families, and seniors each year.
