CCCADI proudly presents the 8th Annual Afribembé Festival as part of Harlem Week’s Harlem Day, celebrating our 50th Anniversary Year with an afternoon of Carnival, community, and the musical expressions of the African Diaspora.

This year’s theme, Under One Sun, honors a phrase present throughout CCCADI’s history: a reminder that the African Diaspora is one community, connected across oceans and continents.

Join us for performances by Pan Evolution Steel Orchestra and Kofago Dance Ensemble, an opening procession led by Los Pleneros de la 21 and Danza Fiesta, our Ọjà Marketplace, Community Archiving Lab pop-up, giveaways, and a full day of family programming at our Afribembé Children’s Village.

What an honor to welcome the iconic WABAFU Garifuna Dance Theater Dance Company to the very first Kassoumi Showcase at Lehman College.✨💛

Rooted in tradition, culture, storytelling, and community, their performance was a powerful reminder of how dance connects us across generations, borders, and histories. From the energy of Punta to the spirit carried in every movement, they brought joy, pride, and cultural brilliance to the stage.

Thank you, WABAFU Garifuna Dance Theater, for sharing your artistry and helping make this inaugural celebration so memorable. We are deeply grateful to have had you as part of this historic first showcase. 🙏🏽

Thank you to Babacar M’baye for inviting Kofago Dance Ensemble to perform last night at CTM’s first full production, “Going Home.”

It was an honor to share space, energy, movement, and culture in such a meaningful production. We are grateful for the invitation, the community, and the opportunity to continue doing the work of preserving and celebrating African Diaspora dance through performance.

Now, we shift our energy toward the Teranga Conference 2026, taking place June 12–14 in New York City!
