Meet the cast of "Murder, M**h & Mayhem", the closing show of our 149th season. With music by Steven Bergman and book and lyrics by John Shea, "Murder, M**h & Mayhem” is a new chamber opera that was presented for the first time at the Providence Fringe last July. It is a tragic tale, based on actual events.

Ben Gold plays a dual role in this show, causing trouble as Slim, then serving up justice as the Judge!

Any experience with the Footlight Club?
This is my first show at the Footlight Club

How do you relate to your character if at all?
I identify with desperately wanting to move forward in life and feeling powerless to do so.

Why should people come see this show?
As far as I know, this is the only musical/opera to explore these taboo, twisted aspects of the human condition without commentary. It trusts the audience to sit with the discomfort and draw their own conclusions.

"Murder, M**h & Mayhem" is part of The Footight Club's 7A Black Box Program in the Parker Room. Admission is only $20, free for members! The show runs June 18, 19, 20, 26 & 27 at 8pm.

Rob Orzalli is excited to once again portray Donald, after making his debut in the role, with the Providence Fringe production last summer!

What kind of background do you have in theater or opera?
I have consistently performed in theater since starting in high school, musicals and plays. For opera, my church in high school did "Amahl and the Night Visitors" that I performed in, and I stage managed an opera production in Faneuil Hall in 2016. Some recent credits incude: "Sunday in the Park…" (George) with Norton Singers; "Company" (David), "Blithe Spirit" (Charles Condomine), "A Little Night Music" (Mr. Lindquist), and "Steel Pier"(Luke Adams/Harmonica) with Sullivan Rep; "Into the Woods" (Baker), "Curtains" (Aaron Fox), "White Christmas" (Bob Wallace), and "Beauty and the Beast" (Beast) with Weston Friendly; "She Loves Me" (Waiter) with Walpole Footlighters (DASH award for Best Cast).

Any experience with the Footlight Club?
I was in "The Wild Party" in 2012 and stage managed "In the Next Room (or the Vi****or Play)" in 2017

How do you relate to your character if at all?
Donald is a difficult character to relate to because of the actions he takes. Trying to understand his motivations and not judging them as I perform is an exciting challenge!

Why should people come see this show?
A twisted, complicated story told through great music !

The Footlight Club is announcing auditions for the first show in our 150th season: Tracy Letts' The Minutes directed by Fern Roberts.

Performances September 5th - 19th

The Minutes is a sharp, fast-paced comedy by Tracy Letts that turns a routine small-town city council meeting into a hilarious display of political absurdity, as hidden agendas clash and alliances twist unexpectedly. Beneath the charming facade of the quaint town of Big Cherry, USA, lie dark secrets. Blending sharp satire and gripping psychological mystery, the play reveals deeper questions about how communities tell their own stories and how far a community will go to defend its version of reality.

Adina Lynn Richardson plays Molly, a woman who lives with her verbally abusive father, and becomes entangled in a dark tale of drug addiction and murder. We asked Adina a few questions

What kind of background do you have in theater or opera?
I don't have any formal training aside from a few months of voice lessons. My experience comes from performing in the community theatre space. My very first role was when I was a 10th grader in high school, where I got to play Belle in "Beauty and the Beast". "Murder M**h & Mayhem" is the 29th musical I've been in and it's been such a fun challenge.

Any experience with the Footlight Club?
I've never worked at the Footlight Club!

How do they relate to their character if at all?
I'm a chronic people pleaser, a trait that can easily cause someone to cross their own boundaries for the sake of others if they're not careful. The character of Molly is forced to do horrific things to keep her family from harming her children. Thankfully my people pleasing has never gone to this extreme, but I can draw from my own experiences.

Why should people come see this show?
It's incredibly rare to see a new musical performed locally, and the space we're performing in creates an uncomfortable intimacy that's perfect for the subject material. If you love shows with darker sounds such as "Sweeney Todd" or "Jekyll and Hyde," this show is right up your alley!
