In Loving Memory of International Canadian Punjabi Artist Jarnail Singh (1958–2025)
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Jarnail Singh, an internationally acclaimed Canadian Punjabi artist, who left this world while visiting India. He took his final breath at his home studio in Chandigarh, with his beloved wife, artist Baljit Kaur, by his side—his muse and inspiration for his celebrated Phulkari paintings.
Jarnail Singh was a visionary artist and historian, best known for his extraordinary contributions to Sikh and Punjabi heritage through art. His powerful murals and paintings, including the Gadri Baba stories, brought to life the sacrifices and struggles of Sikh revolutionaries. His work has been showcased across Canada and beyond, including exhibits at the North Delta Library in Surrey. His ability to capture Sikh history with such depth and emotion has cemented his legacy as a pioneer in preserving and narrating Sikh and Punjabi history through visual storytelling.
Beyond his artistic brilliance, Jarnail was a dear friend, mentor, and devoted family man. He leaves behind his loving wife, Baljit Kaur, and his two talented children, Niti and Juber, who will continue to carry forward his creative legacy. Those who knew him will cherish the beautiful memories, laughter, and passion he brought to life and art.
His passing is a monumental loss to the global Sikh and Punjabi art community, but his spirit will forever live on through his breathtaking murals, paintings, and artistic legacy.
