Jacksonville Children's Chorus

Jacksonville Children's Chorus Do you know a child who loves to sing? Led by Dr. Frances B. Carlson and Jim Taylor, who served as the first conductor.

The Jacksonville Children's Chorus (JCC) was founded in 1995 at Jacksonville University to fill a need for a children’s music program in the area. Kinne, then Jacksonville University president, the plan to create a local choir was implemented by Dr. Jon O. In that first year, JCC had only 16 voices. Since then, it has grown to a membership of more than 350 singers participating in five choirs.

Our singers recently enjoyed a wonderful trip to Savannah, Georgia, where they performed at The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist and Asbury Memorial Church.

A special highlight of the tour was collaborating with SING: Savannah Inspiring the Next Generation, a local children's choir, during our performance at Asbury Memorial Church. Sharing music with talented young singers from another community made the experience even more meaningful.

We love having opportunities to travel, connect with neighboring communities, and create music together with fellow arts organizations. Thank you, Savannah, for such a warm welcome!
