s a young child, so art always came to me very naturally. I enrolled in all the art classes schools offered and started my art degree in college but soon found out it was all based on quantity not quality. As a result, I left that department and studied music and literature. I have been teaching art classes at a tutorial level since 1998, first in Mascoutah (IL), and since 2014 in Jacksonville (FL). Garden of Design School of Art, was established on March 7, 1998, and changed the name in 2018 to Joyce's Art School, LLC, was founded on the belief that art education is a necessary part of a child's development in creativity and personal development. Most school systems have slowly taken the arts out of their curriculum or the teachers can't spend as much time as they would like to teach to the students for the maximum time they need to nurture the students individually. Ultimately, the student's imagination, sense of problem solving, and critical thinking cannot be fully developed in this kind of environment. Only a sampling can be taught in this small amount of time. Given more time to develop and learn all the principles and elements of design, students are allowed to reach within themselves to express what's inside of them so they can share their own unique contributions to their families, friends and schools. Art also provides new approaches to learning when taught co-operatively with math, science, social studies, and other subjects. Parents love my curriculum, and art helps with all other core subjects. They love my one-on-one tutorial approach. They also love the small classroom sizes, which is a maximum of 8 students per session, in a comfortable and personal home setting, where refreshments and snack times are included. I offer four (4) levels of instruction:
(1) Beginners-level tuition -- only $120.00 for 12 hours per month
(2) Intermediate-level tuition -- only $120.00 for 12 hours per month
- These prices include tuition and art supplies/class materials. Last two levels will be handled on a one on one basis. All of these prices are guaranteed for 12 months at the signing of the original registration forms.
